Phoenix has a vibe that can easily be boiled down as "exasperated mother". They often say and convey that they prefer silence and solitude, but they care a lot more than they say. She appears to be a strong, silent type. Most of the time, anyway. She tries her best not to get attached or too close to others, wanting avoid any more trouble than most relationships are worth. She comes off as a lot colder than she really is, but that doesnt mean much to those she appears cold to.

From a very young age, Phoenix was orphaned after a raid on her tribe took her away along with several of the firbolg children in her home. Left to the mercy of the strange cultish group, Phoenix was not expected to survive until a certain something intervened. A brilliant phoenix, kind in nature, took pity on the baby giant-kin and stole her away from the cult, protecting her in its nest until a nomadic group of sages came across the child. Healthy and adorned in brilliant phoneix feathers, the sages took this as a sign from the greats and took in the child, naming them Phoenix after the way the sages found her. The sages raised Phoenix together, teaching her about literature and culture and their studies of celestial beings. Phoenix adored the stories of celestials and great spirits of light, and would often beg to listen in on their exchanges. Eventually, after the death of one particular sage, the one that had raised Phoenix the most, the firbolg no longer felt able to travel with the sages, lest she be reminded of her passed parent-figure. Thus, Phoenix began to travel on her own with little more than sunlight and the notes of the passed sage to keep her company. That is, until she came across a cave. Inside, she sees an odd group of adventurers fighting a horde of goblins. They were just going to ignore the group and keep moving until they saw the young and defenseless dragonborn injured inside. Her sense of justice overtaking any sort of pessimism, Phoenix aided the group and became more interested in them at seeing the tiefling's magic, celestial-like in nature. After the fight, the tiefling, who introduced herself as Matilda, offered Phoenix a place with them. Phoenix was hesitent to travel with a group, prefering solitude, but she couldnt help but want to see more of the strange celestial magic. So, they accepted.
