Profile

Background:
Dean's father was an elk who worked in the lumber industry. His mother was a red deer doe and local town girl who became instantly smitten with his father when he first came to town for work. His mother calls him "Rudy," a nickname for Rudolph, because he was born with a pink nose. As a small child, regardless of how much his mother doted on him, he was teased mercilessly for his name, and eventually started going by "Dean," his middle name.

At a young age, his father was killed in what was reported to be a logging accident, but even in his youth, Dean knew better. In fact, the whole town silently knew. It was a well known fact that deep in the forested country side, monsters lurked far and wide. Some where gentle beasts that just wanted to be left alone. Others were far from docile. Dean picked up his father's old hunting rifle, nicknamed Dolores, and swore to hunt down the savage creatures that roamed the wilderness.

Notes on his clothing:
Dean prefers dark, muted colors. You won't find any whites in his closet, and his jeans are always dark colored or black, usually a bit worn and faded. His flannel shirts range in pattern from very simple to very complex. So feel free to draw them however you feel comfortable! He doesn't wear belts, preferring suspenders, but only leather, as elastic wears out too easy. If he wants to look more formal, he'll throw on a clean flannel shirt and a leather vest. He has several leather vests all with silk backs ranging in color and pattern.

Notes on his antlers:
Antlers aren’t perfect and change very slightly every year. Dean always has five tines on each antler, but the shape and length can vary. The fourth tine, or sword tine, is always the longest and can be straight or curved. Like other cervine, Dean sheds his antlers in early March. The wounds take about 2-3 weeks to heal over completely, but by the end of April his antlers start growing rapidly. They are covered in fuzzy velvet from April to August. In early to mid September, his velvet starts to dry, rip, and fall off in bloody strips. It usually only takes a day or two to completely remove all of his velvet and for the bleeding to stop. From October to March, his antlers are hard and pointed. You can draw his antlers in any of these stages!
