Red is a demon of sorts from Hell who was put into Superjail as a result of the Twins' boredom. They thought it'd be fun to teleport some of the inmates to Hell and switch them out with demons. Red was one of the unlucky few who ended up there and is unable to leave.
He becomes cellmates with Ash, and the two become quick friends do to Red's pyrokinesis. He seems to have a weird sort of mutual respect with Jared and the two seem acquainted.
The inmates and staff don't question why Red looks like that.
