Aurex

All non-avian dinosaurs perished during the KT extinction event.......or so everyone thought. 65 million years later, there is still a dinosaur that not only survived the catastrophe, but is thriving. ...Maybe a little too well.

His species, known as Aurex magnus, grows for its entire life, normally reaching 14m (about 46ft) long by adulthood, but a genetic mutation caused Aurex to grow to kaiju size and then stop. Since he could no longer sustain himself on regular-sized prey, he migrated to a new ecosystem of kaiju-sized beasts. While the giant prey suits his appetite more, he's no longer an apex predator. In fact, he's actually pretty weak by comparison, but the gold king has not yet accepted that he has been dethroned.

Aurex is highly aggressive (even compared to other members of his species) and does not take lightly to any perceived threats. His previous time at the top of the food chain also made him severely overconfident, far more willing to provoke others than he might otherwise be.

Aurex's main offensive weapons are his teeth and claws, but the thick, armored hide on his upper body is very resistant to damage, making it a vital defense. His underside lacks this level of protection and is a comparative weak spot. Aurex can also reflect light with his golden scales; if it is aimed at the opponent, they can temporarily go blind. This only works with a large, bright light source, such as the sun. ....Or a light show.
