Carla is a freshman in college. She wants to go to nursing school, but has decided to get her bachelor's degree in general science first. She was always top of her class in high school, and plans on keeping that trend going. She's pretty hard on herself, and often forgets to have fun. Carla meets Ian in one of her classes and finds him charming, if not a bit simple. He is constantly trying to convince her to live a little, so she finally agrees to go on a date with him. It goes well, and they officially start dating a few months into the school year.
