Smoked Topaz (Opposite Gems- Red)

Red is an honest, but cheeky gem-one who doesn't like to talk about his past. He can often talk too much, or talk none at all, not realizing what he's doing. The man honestly tries to do his best, but not everyone is perfect. He's competitive, but knowing when to stop. Red is utterly terrified of losing himself and becoming a heartless monster, and reverting to what he was before. Losing Osbi and everything he's worked for would utterly break his heart and fuck with his mind, which makes it one of his worst fears that he doesn't want to deal with-again. 

“Smoked Topaz is a artificial gem experiment, that of course, went wrong. He was originally was an experiment to create a new gem that would be a bio-weapon for Yellow Diamond.” This is the story that was used to hide the original purpose and story behind closed doors. Over several hundred thousand years ago, after the war between the metals and gems, there was a heavily drastic decline of diamonds. These two red diamonds were twins, Wine and Vermilion. Desperate to find a way to create more diamonds, an experiment was proposed to sever the gems of both diamonds in half. This was to see if more diamonds could be produced from the removed halves. Both Wine and Vermilion were against being used as test monkeys, but were forced to go through it anyway. Otherwise they would be stuck with Yellow and Blue as partners. You can understand why they chose the lab experiment instead. The two red diamonds were poofed and severed, and a new diamond was created, but a very unstable diamond was made. One sliced half from each gem was used to make the new gem on the body, creating the ears. The other severed halves were used in the gem’s destabilizers, acting as a power source for each destabilizer. From these two red diamonds, Smoked Topaz, or really, Red Diamond was born. Having no idea on what was going on, and no concept of the outside world, he escaped the lab, trying to understand what was going on. Trapped in a science building and scared out of his mind, with no concept of the outside world, he lost it. He left the science building in shambles, and shattered all of the gems that were there. Soon, gem warriors were sent out to defeat him, but were poofed and shattered as well. Eventually, there were almost no gems left to fight him, except for Yellow Diamond. Red was defeated, and Yellow Diamond (being the wonderful gem she is), saw the potential from what was made of the two diamonds and set him as the war master for the Yellow Diamond regime. To have more control over Smoked Topaz, Yellow Diamond lied to him about him being a Red Diamond, and told him that he was nothing but a Smoked Topaz. After Yellow Diamond set Smoked Topaz as him war leader, from the original red diamonds on the ears woke up, somehow keeping their conciseness and keeping Red stable. Staying silent for most of Smoked Topaz’s existence, they watched him very closely, and started to grow fond of him, seeing him as a little brother. Only recently they have decided to talk to anyone else other than each other for the first time, finally deciding to slowly let information about their past and who Red really is. After being put through several wars, he became well known for his shatter record (500,000 broken;estimation) and was given the name of “Red Rabbit” as a result. During his time on homeworld, he was cold, calculating, and found amusements in his opponent’s suffering. Over time though, he slowly lost his old, disturbing personality by realizing there were another gems who he could actually trust. The only real friends he had were Indicolite and Moldavite. However, when the last war came, he finally became bored of his lifestyle and left with his only friends for Earth. (This caused Yellow Diamond to brand him as a criminal as a result.) Despite his past, he regrets shattering so many gems, and to make up for it in his spare time by looking for gem shards to make a gem. Then he takes it to Moldavite to repair. He has found and fixed around 30 gems so far. When the gem awakens, he tries to befriend them and apologize for what he’s done. This often is very hard to do, and sometimes the gem is never able to get over what Red has done to them. After the rebellion was successful, and after their version of Pink Diamond was "shattered," Rose Quartz took over Homeworld with the three Diamonds under her control, and made it a turn for the worst. Since then, having power over the gem empire has corrupted her, and destroyed any genuine meaning/attempt to topple the controlling relationship between the Diamonds and regular gems. She has continued the same parasitical cycle of draining planets dry of their lives, and has her eyes back on Earth. Red and his fellow opposite gems found out about this, and rather than letting their counterparts take care of it, they found it best to take care of it before things get out of hand. 

As of current though, Red's been busy trying to bring the Galactic Federation back together, to replace the Diamond Authority that was once there. He's working together with Snowflake Obsidian, "Obsi," to see if this is possible. 

The world that Red lives in has been merged with the canon world that Smoked Topaz lives in, creating a double opposite of everything. Red usually avoids his double though, otherwise it's just weird. He stays in his version of the Hidden Village, and she stays in hers.
