Ludwig

The second born and only boy of five. When he was old enough, he volunteered to go to the capital city of the kingdom to find better work to support the family. Even with both his parents, his older sister, and her husband all working hard, they still struggled to make ends meet. He took his journey by sea and hoped to make it there in a few short weeks. Like most great adventures, things didn't quite go to plan. Mid-journey the ship was caught in a terrible storm and all its passengers were tossed aboard as it wrecked.

When Ludwig awoke sometime later, he found he had washed ashore on a small island in the middle of the ocean with no trace of any of the sailors, only a boy just a few years younger than himself. Sebastian was the only other kid aboard the ship. The sailors had often pawned the boy off on Ludwig to entertain. Now that it's just the two of them, Ludwig tries to let go of his initial annoyance with the boy, he's just a scared little kid and they could be stuck there for a while, after all. It's four years until they're found.

After his rescue, Ludo went back home. He passed the next ten years as a soldier of the imperial army, finding life be a little duller each day. That is until his old friend Sebastian resurfaces. Albeit sporting a fake blue-blood name, wearing the clothes of one far above his station, and claiming to be appointed by the king himself to collect gold from Ludwig's superiors that was needed for the imperial reserve. After some interrogation, Sebastian admits to it all being a scheme for his own gain. He says it's what he's being up to these last ten they've been apart. At some point, it was for survival, but now it's just for fun, he explains. 

Ludwig loves his family, but living his whole life for them is slowly killing him on the inside. So when Sebastian asks him if he'd like to join in on the fun, he doesn't hesitate to say yes.
