Aitarou (Tarou) is generally closed off as a person. He’s polite to everyone he interacts with, but in general it’s pretty difficult to get him to open up about his personal life. He’s quiet and reserved but cares deeply for his friends.
Tarou suffers from a lot of anxiety, mostly stemming from childhood. His father was absent most his life, his mother an alcoholic. She never laid a hand on him, but was still pretty emotionally and mentally abusive. He cut as much contact with her as soon as he could, but she still calls him up sometimes to ask for money, which he politely refuses.
Because of how Tarou grew up, he has a lot of social anxiety. He doesn’t like getting close to people for fear of them disliking him. He’s never had a real romantic relationship due to the fact that his mother really tore down his self esteem throughout the years.
Throughout school, Tarou was pretty popular, in the sense that everyone kinda knew him and he was always polite. He did swim for eight years because his mother wanted him in a sport to keep him out of the house longer. He was always good at swimming, but quickly gave it up soon after he moved out of his mother’s house.
Tarou currently resides alone in an apartment, most of his time consisting of working, taking care of his plants, or laying around at home. He works produce at a farmers market and loves his job.
He’s a huge fan of plants, and takes time to research the proper care for each new one that he brings home. Tarou often names plants after his friends, mainly plants that remind them of him, or something that symbolizes what he thinks they need the plants he names after people are either plants that remind him of them or what he thinks they need most (rosemary for good health, gladiolus for plants etc).
Plants make him happy because he likes watching them grow. It’s a rewarding thing for him.
