Past
In the beginning, there was only Time. The Eternal Dragon of Time, goddess of all and guardian of the multiverse, sacrificed Herself on Galanoth the Dragonslayer's blade to prevent the destruction of creation caused by timeline events She could not have foreseen. Like the universes and all within, Time Herself was reborn in a single golden spark, and thus the story of Daeris Ka'areth Blackbow truly began.

Daeris's life is one of suffering, and always has been in every instance... but it is perhaps most severe when the universe was restarted a second time, into a world of dragons and fables.
She was born to Roland Black-Bow, an ex-bandit, and Kaida Kaareth, the sole heir to the most powerful and noble family among the darkness dragons. They ran away together, married, and settled down in the Swordhaven Thieves Guild, and soon Kaida bore a child who may or may not have hatched from an egg. From the start, Daeris was a troublemaker. When she was three, on an outing outside the walls of the city, Daeris wandered away from her mother and into the dense forests. She became lost, and it was then when a beautiful, glowing woman (who only in another time was revealed to be her previous godly self, the Dragon Of Time) appeared before her and gifted her a plush golem named Cornelis to protect her, made in the image of chaotic mage from another world, and then sent the tiny tot on her way.
Life was well until a few months after she turned six, and a group of thieves who were angry with her father and his vocal opinions about the corruption within the Thieves Guild hacked off her wings and left the child for dead as a warning to Roland, though she was found and rescued by Cornelis before any more damage could be done. Roland fled the Guild a few days later, leaving Daeris and her mother alone.
Years passed and Daeris proved herself an impressive pickpocket and thief, and a strong fighter. With her father gone and her mother often busy, Cornelis became a substitute parent of sorts to Daeris, reading her stories, playing with her, and protecting her. She started stealing on the streets when she was around twelve; and proved extremely elusive to the guards. She boasted that no guard could catch her, except, unfortunately, for one. The Knight Captain, a man by the name of Valen. They formed an odd relationship, with Valen becoming an almost uncle figure to Daeris; the father she never had lowkey trying to usher her towards the side of Good and away from her criminal misdeeds as she grew older. His efforts proved futile, however, at least until years later when she was tasked with saving the world from a great Evil by the name of Sepulchure, who she remembered all too well.
As a teenager Daeris befriended a knight named Rolith, who was stationed in Swordhaven. He was one of her only friends, along with her cousin, Kensington, and her pseduo-uncle Valen. Daeris soon found that she was finally, truly... Happy.
Of course, nothing good ever lasts for our dear Daeris. Rolith left, promoted to Captain and re-stationed in some place called Oaklore. Tensions began to run high in the Guild. Daeris was forbidden, by her mother, to go anywhere without Cornelis by her side. Just a few weeks short of her eighteenth birthday, Daeris returned to the Guild after a day of pickpocketing in the market to find her mother's corpse, and the Guild leader standing over it with a bloodied blade in his hand and a cruel grin on his lips- although Daeris did not know it at time time, a bounty letter was clasped in the man's other hand.
Daeris didn't think. She just ran. She ran, and ran. Swordhaven was a large city, but still she found it hard to hide from the people who wanted the sole witness to her mother's murder dead. She had no way of contacting her grandparents who would most likely seek vengence for their only child, and instead she found herself on the dark doorstep of Valen who happily took her in, living in his house in the noble district where ruffians were more hard to come by. Lady Luck had a bone to pick with Daeris so it seemed, as a year or so later Swordhaven was attacked by legions of undead and the Queen was stolen away in the chaos- Valen quickly rode off to rescue his secret love, but he was never to return. With the last real part of her fractured family gone, Daeris did not stay much longer in the Capitol and in her supposedly deceased uncle's house, deciding that the place held nothing more for her at the moment, and possibly never would again.
With only a plushie as her sole companion and only a few possessions, Daeris locked the house behind her left the city and made her way towards where a guard had told her Oaklore was, stealing what meager food she could along the way after her coin ran out as she wandered across the continent.
Daeris lived in Oaklore for a period of time, finding (sometimes stealing) books for Maya, and helping with the bandit problem in the forest alongside Rolith and the knights. She secretly began saving her stolen (and earned) coin, wanting to move to the nearby town of Falconreach, as Oaklore was just a bit too bland for a city girl such as her, and being surrounded by the King's own knights made her more than a bit uncomfortable. Daeris had to sell a few items out of her only recently regained draconic hoard, but she soon bought a small house in Falconreach and moved in, sharing the house with a violently protective Cornelis and a gift from Rolith; a runt-of-the-litter tog named Erebus who didn't take long in chewing up a good part of the house's ratty furniture. Daeris didn't mind. She had finally repaired what was left of her fractured life, and found that she was... content. The woman quickly settled into her new life, and even if it lacked a certain amount of thieving, she- "holy shit Ken where the FUCK did you get that goddamn dragon and what do you mean we have to save the world from an undead warlord!?"
... Can I at least steal his sword?"
