Erica

BACKSTORY

Erica spent her early childhood growing up in Leilon with her mother, father, and two younger sisters until age ten. She was then sent to a monastery dedicated to Tyr, as she had demonstrated behavioral problems and her family said growing there would be good for her. In truth, her parents simply had no more patience for her and left her there permanently. Erica deeply resented her family once she reached her teenage years and realized they would not return for her. While she genuinely no longer resents her family and rather blames herself, they have never tried to contact each other since she was dropped off.

Growing up, Erica took Tyrran beliefs very personally, wanting to rid herself of the “lawlessness” that drove her family away. How she feels about her family has become less hostile but more complicated over time, leading to some built up resentment that she tries to avoid. How she’s coped with losing her family has essentially resulted in her burying all emotion, and she’s now almost completely expressionless in face and voice.

At the monastery, Erica spent the majority of her time training and studying any new book she can get her hands on. Whenever she had the opportunity, she took jobs away from the monastery to see more of the world around her. Erica last left knowing she would have to decide to either dedicate herself fully to her monastery, or fulfill her wanderlust and leave as others had before her.

CAMPAIGN

During her journey discovering the Lost Mine of Phandelver, Erica was killed by Venomfang. She was brought back to life with the help of her new friends as she was taken to Viridian, a banshee in an abandoned village, who then possessed Erica and bonded her soul with hers, giving both of them a second chance in life. While Erica completed her adventure, she realized through death that she would regret not living life to the fullest, and aims to reunite with her family and serve communities outside the monastery.

Erica’s new life comes with a cost: with two souls sharing one body, their vessel will age twice as fast and they won’t live past age fifty. While Viridian told Erica she was willing to sever their soul bond so that Erica could live a full life, Erica refused and vowed that they would live their short lives to the fullest together.

Erica and Viridian are now married and work on the Revivification Counsel, a committee devoted to reviving those who want a second chance. They also currently have a mortician boyfriend named Jesuah.
