Family: his younger brother Leo, two parents he doesn't talk about, and a trashy uncle
Fears/phobias: The dark. Ever since he was a kid, he never liked the dark. He wasn't allowed to sleep with a nightlight or else the hydro bill would rack up, and his parents couldn't afford that. They'd never sit with him or read books until he fell asleep, either. Even now, they cant afford to keep any lights on unnecessarily. Nighttime is his least favourite part of the day.

PERSONALITY
Kaname is very protective over those he cares about. His brother Leo is the only family he has left (aside from a deadbeat uncle) and he would literally do anything to keep him safe, no hesitation.
Kaname is also very independent. and oddly responsible, considering he tends to always get into fights. his grades are surprisingly good despite his "delinquent" status in school.
Kana finds it hard to trust people mostly because of his past. It takes a lot to break his shell, and he keeps people at arm's length. He doesn't open up or talk about his problems, and doesn't like to rely on other people for things. He's quiet and withdrawn, and mostly keeps to himself at school.

BACKSTORY
Their parents parents divorced at a very young age, Leaving their dad with custody of Kaname and Leo. They were never really a close family. His parents seemed to only tolerate each other most of the time, and they never bonded as a family. It was like living with strangers. and then his dad fucked off with their money, leaving Kaname and Leo alone to fend for themselves. Well, they sort of had their uncle who showed up like once a week, but he was a drunkard and a sleaze. He only used his money to gamble, and then when Kana had to get a job in highschool to support himself and his brother, he started hijacking Kana's paychecks to feed his addiction. Kana had to start hiding them, and purposely started leaving Leo at his friends houses on days he had to work and knew his uncle would show up to try and get some money. Most of the time, he's lucky and it works, but occasionally his uncle finds a way.
As for his school life, Kana is labelled a "delinquent" due to his appearance and tendency to get into fights. He doesn't actively go picking fights or anything, people just sort of... Come to him. To prove points, get revenge, or whatever. Kaname doesn't really like it, but most of the time he doesn't have much of a choice.
