Biography:

Barely old enough to be a Lancer, Bolt Stryker started life as a junkyard mechanic in a material processing center at the age of 14. Often piecing together scrap parts to make various things in his free time, it seems that an influx of old mech parts deemed unusable except as scrap found their way into his hands. Though many of these ended up in things such as buggies, Bolt ended up eventually putting together a mech of his own which he intended to use as a workhorse for things such as placing or retrieving large parts from upper sections of junk piles. However, this was short-lived as the beacon signal from his hacked-together mech interface triggered authorities to locate and arrest Bolt for the unlicensed ownership and usage of a mech, resulting in its confiscation and destruction. In place of jail time, however, he was instead offered a chance to become a mech pilot, though nobody would assume he would excel to the point of becoming a Lancer, an ace among aces. (If you know Armored Core, Lancers are basically Ravens from before AC4. Not like Lynx who are all basically Human Plus to better connect to their mechs.)

During training, Bolt was considered problematic, particularly as he lagged behind in classes and training, though this turned around as he clumsily demonstrated his knowledge of the internal systems, also revealing that he had, in fact, spent an excessive amount of time reading up on said systems and trying to gain hands-on experience when he could, though it took him a while longer before he could put knowledge into practice in order to master the use of a mech to the degree that he could graduate from training.

AU 1: Paracausal

Bolt, having seemed a failure early on, was actually bullied which worsened as he was taken out of class, other cadets were not aware that he was being tested separately, initially just to catch up, but shot ahead of his classmates after he was made to focus on tests both on a slate and with private hands-on drills and exams. At a point, a group called the Crows came, with the known class ace, a blonde haired green eyed young man from a wealthy family named Leon Tora being sent along with them, only to find Bolt seated in already, having secretly been loaded on prior to the ceremony while thinking that he was going back to jail due to his disobedience until the leader of the mercenary guild said they were both chosen to be Lancers in training. From there, both were given their own personal mechs and sent into an induction battle, frustrating Leon as he was the ace, but the failure was actually doing better than him. Though they got along better over the course of several missions, there started to be a point where the missions began to get radically worse, leading Bolt to leave the Crows, with Leon soon after being forced to follow as the Crows leader was starting to become erratic and taking missions too bold.

Bolt fled to a space colony and was thinking about just living out one more day before turning himself in, only to learn that his time was already considered null, leading to him trying to get more money by entering a competition and accidentally using his Lancer License with the game, changing it from a Crow pilot ID to an unaffiliated Lancer ID, which was usable with the mech simulation game as he accepted license deals on the game machine's separate management kiosk without realizing he was accepting actual license clearances until someone suggested he stop by the station's own Lancer hub to take the initiation test and was told that he already passed it and was clear to take missions. Joining the team "Sky Runners," a few weeks go by before he finds a strange mission addressed to only him to survey an asteroid field. Taking it, he's suddenly swallowed up by a metaspace vault that suddenly opens as an unidentified mech starts attacking, Bolt barely manages to keep pace with the lightning-fast mech and manages to land the final blow, knocking him out with the blast as he is found unconscious in his broken mech. After Leon finds him sometime after on the station, worse for wear, he joins up with the team before Bolt finds a mysterious mech in his schematics folder, which he recognizes as the one he fought before remembering rumors about HORUS mechs that suddenly appear. keeping it secret and only asking some people who know how to remove schematics to take it, only for them to use it to hold the colony hostage, imposing taxes on it, and for the mech to reappear in Bolt's schematics with the message "Would you like to fix your mistake?" Starting to actually look at the assembly, he notices that the design is missing aspects and feverishly tries to complete it, only to overwork himself as he crashes out for his team to find and realize what he's doing, scolding him before starting to work with him on correcting the design and naming the mech DRAGOON based on its appearance, and using the vastly improved design to launch an attack on the twin HORUS pilots and defeating them, but also leading the team through all kinds of problems involving the nature of HORUS mechs.

AU 2: Augmented

Partway through his training, however, he was fitted with neural link horns for use with special mech interfaces. Though it was also implemented to allow mind control to let Bolt be a "perfect soldier," Bolt's link with them and technical expertise allowed him to bypass it in secret. Having become an ace by graduation, and having had high marks in dozens of operations, he was given the title of "Lancer" and command of his own personal mech, though later on, Bolt was given an order he couldn't comply with, and the moment his handlers realized they couldn't engage the mind control function of his horns, Bolt was deemed a failure and a threat, forcing him into hiding, building a name as the Lancer "Dragoon".
