Even without the near-permanent scowl, Mal makes for an intimidating sight: He's bulky and knows how to posture himself to accentuate that fact. Usually keeps a short layer of scruff on his face and dyes the top of his hair a dark red.

Notably, his left eyebrow is parted by a vertical scar.

Hardworking and no-nonsense, Mal has absolutely zero time for fun and games. Doesn't talk much if he thinks he doesn't need to. He tends towards perfectionism and generally holds both himself and others to (sometimes unreasonably) high standards. At the same time, he can appear to be quite the hypocrite when he criticizes others, especially when he points out behavior he himself engages in.
