THE MAGE'S DOLL

They were mage's childhood doll, one made by his mother before she passed. The mage nowadays lives as a lonely, exiled hermit in a cabin a couple miles from his original town. While digging through his belongings, he came across the old plush, and in a desperation of loneliness, he used his magic to bring the doll to life. The plush helps as his assistant and does care for him, so when they heard he was exiled, they got a bit angry, and devious. The kangaroo, obviously, still has magic running through them, and they can draw it out to use spells of their own, which are draining but rekindle eventually. Due to their anger, they pull off a bit of mischief in the old town, and the inconveniences grow as they release no one would dare blame a plush for the oddities happening in the village.
