Katsumi grew up in a middle-class family where she was loved dearly. She holds her family close to heart and would do anything for them. When in school, she would give her all 100% of the time and ended up at the top of her class many times. Throughout her time in school, many teachers inspired her to be just like them, which she vowed to do. Katsumi has been trying to train herself to become a teacher by tutoring others in her spare time and attending student teaching at local schools. She loves to read and wants to make everyone around her happy. 

While at Hope's Peak, Katsumi bonded with almost the entire class, and the strongest of her bonds being with Deacon, SHSL Origami Artist. They became lovers and protected each other at all costs. Laia was Katsumi's best friend, and she was heartbroken when she died. In the end, Katsumi is among the survivors of the killing game.
