Redd grew up with an abusive mother who, despite his father's best attempts at protecting him, would sometimes physically lash out at her son. The scar on his lip serves as a reminder of this. His mother's abusive habbits led to Redd often fleeing home and spending time on the street, where he was introduced to many bad habits such as smoking and drinking at a young age while also finding street art and graffiti to be his calling.

When his mother had eventually left in a fit of rage, leaving Redd and his father Nathanial alone, Redd's bad habits had become settled in and he still continued his street life despite his father's pleading to think about his future. After years of spending most of his time out of the house and dealing with his father's pestering, Redd saved up money and got a down-to-earth apartment to himself.

Now by himself, Redd can get up to as many antics as he wants and has to answer to no one but himself. His bad habits of drinking, smoking, and graffiting the city continue while he also brings his best friend along for the ride.
