Personality
In his own right, Remington would be considered a perfect gentleman, assuming he stepped out of his house before 1980. He acts like a proper victorian gentleman having a culture shock. He's very much used to the customs of back then and acts as such. He's incredibly unsocialized and lacks a filter, but he always means well. He's incredibly emotional and sensitive and cannot handle change well, but he never does anything with ill will, very much unlike his sibling, Marcellus. He is not very confident in his masculinity and tries to prove that he can do things on his own when he very much can't. That said, modern culture is very interesting to him and new things excite him heavily. He thinks humans are absolutely adorable and wants to learn more about technology and the way things work these days.
History
Remington is an old vampire, born in the 1820s in the Victorian era as a poor child who was quickly adopted by the head of the Alabaster household-- Yail Alabaster-- and coddled heavily by him and his mother until his adulthood when he was quickly turned.
The idea of living a happy family life for all eternity was very enticing to Remington-- likely because he was under manipulation, but also because it was just nice to have a family around! ! ! He enjoyed his life with the Alabasters despite all that.
Remington was brought into the house as a companion to Yail’s other child, Marcellus Alabaster, who was kidnapped by vampire hunters and held hostage for years and was heavily traumatized by the incident. Yail thought that this would help his child open up, but what ended up happening was an unhealthy codependency on Remington’s presence, instead.
Remington lived through a lot shit, his father handling a lot of the family’s needs and blood never really being an issue for him due to being spoiled to high heaven, and continuing to be spoiled in his early years as a vampire.
He became very, very close with Marcellus to the point that the two were nearly inseparable. He was the only one Marcellus found themselves able to emotionally connect with and even feel empathy towards.
Despite once being human, a lot of Remington’s humanity was lost as he became deeper entrenched in being a vampire. He became extremely sheltered, and never left the Manor because everything was provided for him. He became more deeply enamored by humans, found them very cute! ! ! Cute, helpless, and weak. For hundreds of years he never stepped outside as he never really needed to. The sun hurt, and he had everything he could ever want!
One day, Marcellus told Remington they wanted to take over, and make changes. Things had started to stagnate. The world was changing, and they could see that better than anyone else, so one night, Marcellus murdered their father and committed diablerie in order to take on his strength and became the head of the Alabaster household. Their mother was certainly horrified, but what was she going to do? Remington did not understand the seriousness of the incident. Of course, he grieved for his father-- and sire-- but he was also blindly supportive of his sibling because they were so attached. To this day he still blindly supports his sibling despite being clearly evil.
After Marcellus took over, many changes were made to the household regarding staff, and newer people were brought in to the house who had technology, so Remington began to learn how much the world had changed around him. Quite recently, Remington met a young human maid named Aurora (18 years old at the time of campaign) and was fascinated by this toy she was playing with. She called it a game……… boy…….? After that came an unhealthy obsession with modern firearms and how they worked -- and an unhealthy fixation on human culture. He started growing bored with his old ways of entertaining himself and told Marcellus he was out going out to see the world! Much to their extreme disdain and overwhelming concern.
So he literally left the house and went back exactly 4 times to get all his necessities (read: ‘I FORGOT MY WALLET.’ ‘What wallet?’ ‘I AM GOING TO BUY A WALLET. HOW MANY CENTS DO THEY COST??’ ‘Oh my god.’) It is not as though Remington will not be welcomed back if he does come back, but he hasn’t come back yet out of choice. He’s too curious.
