Cocktails of the Fire Variety
Hailing from the social class of yachts and disdain Maverick is fluent in the secret languages of the elite, which he uses to, as he puts it, "fuck shit up as beautifully as possible". This would be all well and good to his family and their band of many associates, if it wasn't for the teeny tiny fact that he's fucking up all the wrong shit. It's a time-honored tradition of the wealthy to make everybody else as miserable as possible, which Maverick takes to heart...by setting fire to everything he deems capitalistic (unfortunately his inner capitalism-radar seems to be on the fritz, so he destroys at random). To the horror of his social class Maverick grew up to be as anti-establishment as you could shake a stick at. But you probably wouldn't want to, since he'd certainly take it from you and brandish it at the nearest sports car.
Contrary to his attitude, Maverick was born the only son and sole heir to the D'agata Corporation, which he took to about as well as a cat with its claw stuck in the carpet. With his charming good looks and sharp personality he was thought to be the best CEO material you could legally breed...if it wasn't for that pesky moral compass his parents couldn't quite manage to shake out of him. Unlike his parents and their many, many (yes-men, lawyers, and investors) friends, Maverick is much more interested in burning down The Man than becoming him. Unfortunately, this has put him in hot water with his entire family. Which is fine. Really, it's fine.
With his parents working away from home, and often country, Maverick's taken to raising his baby sister and seeing her through to some semblance of adulthood hopefully relatively intact. Unfortunately, he's taken to doing the same with his band of rich misfits as well, often contradicting himself by teaching them to throw a molotov cocktail through a Prada window and then berate them for getting ash in their eyes. Despite his misgivings (of which there are many) Maverick tries to channel his boundless energy and anger for good, although his definition of 'good' often differs from others. Something will have to be done about that.

Character
On the surface Maverick is as chaotic and confident as they come, but underneath the crooked smile and the general disregard for his own safety is a young man that never feels quite right in his own skin. Not to say that he doesn’t like how he looks, because he very much does so, but rather that he feels ill-placed in the roles that have been thrust upon him. After failing to become the son his parents wanted, failing to fit into his social class, feeling like he’s failing at raising his baby sister, then oftentimes failing at trying to fix all of the above with fire, Maverick finds himself rather uncertain with who he is and what he’s doing in life. His solution to this, of course, is just more fire.
Despite having found solace in his friends and the borderline life-threatening shenanigans they all get into, Maverick is secretly a very closed individual who only lets people see what he wants them to see. To them Maverick is a capitalist-hating pyromaniac whose intentions stem from probable daddy and mommy issues, and nobody expects the inner workings of his mind to operate on a level any more complex than a 12-year-old going to town on a birthday pinata after his parents announced their divorce. Contrary to that belief, Maverick is an incredibly smart person, but relies more on instinct than any actual brain power (much to the chagrin of the authorities), and his recent bout at fatherhood has made him more of a mother-hen than he cares to admit.
Maverick’s first priority is and will always be the safety of his little sister, and much of his personality has been formed, as of late, through his constant need to set a good example for her (which includes instilling his love of fire and hatred of late stage capitalism, of course). Still, parts of the old him simmer beneath the surface, waiting for their chance to break the thin layer keeping them from causing total chaos. Until that happens though Maverick’s more than happy to cope with his pent up abandonment issues with fire and looking sad when he thinks nobody’s looking.

Maverick has found a surprisingly strong friendship in James. Despite being almost opposites in personality the two bonded over family expectations and absent parents, and now look to each other first whenever there's an issue. When things inevitably go to shit during one of Maverick's crimes, the first person he makes sure is alright is James. That's love, baby.
