Jayshine

Kithood

Jaykit was born with his brother Mottledkit two months after the beware of rogues event. Both kits were active kits, going in and out of the nursery, so they remembered quite a bit of what was going on, even if they weren't there since the beginning. Their parents were Flamehowl and Rockfang of RavenClan, and they were very involved with what was going on.

Their parents were always in and out of the nursery, going on patrols and strengthening their borders after the final battle. Whenever they weren't on patrols, the two were telling stories about what happened just before the two kits were born to Mottledkit and Jaykit- this was how the two found out about Watcher and Sleet, and how the clans were working together to get information on them.

Flamehowl and Rockfang told stories about the final battle- Jaykit was very impressed and wide-eyed at all the embelished tales his parents were telling him- Mottledkit however, was worried about how Watcher's body was taken by Sleet. Jaykit told his brother not to worry about it at all.

When they turned two moons old, the valley hit a wet season... a bad one. One that worried Flamehowl and Rockfang. It was all fun and games for Jaykit and Mottledkit at first- that is until the valley started flooding and as RavenClan was evacuating, Jaykit was almost swept away and drowned. His mother managed to get to him in time, and as the clan trekked their way towards SnakeClan territory for shelter, Jaykit was quiet for the first time in his life.

He hasn't been able to look at water again since.

Thankfully, things at SnakeClan were HIGH above water, and sort of fun- the other kits and cats from all the clans made for interesting playmates.

The rest of the kits times in the nursery was full of fun times and playing- though Jaykit always avoided any type of play with water. Flamehowl and Rockfang were a bit worried on how the tom would be able to deal with it when he needed to go fishing as an apprentice- but Jaykit loudly assured them that he won't EVER have to go near it.

They agreed, if only because they've seen how he freezes up anywhere near a large body of water.

Soon, it was time for Jaykit and Mottledkit's apprentice ceremony, and the two were ready to become apprentices.

Apprenticehood

Jaykit became Jaypaw and was assigned the mentor Ashspot. His and his brother's ceremony was short lived however, as almost immediately afterwards, war started. Sootstar had ordered RavenClan to hunt on LynxClan's territories, and Rookstar declared war. Jaypaw made had been a newly made apprentice, but even he understood how BAD this was. RavenClan wasn't doing too bad...why did Sootstar do that?

Jaypaw heard that Rookstar sought Flintstar's help after losing the first battle, but when the SnakeClan leader refused she dragged SnakeClan in anyway. Really mean, in his opinion.

Thankfully Ashspot had the intelligence not to let his newly made apprentice join the fights, so Jaypaw spent his first moon learning about being an apprentice. They made sure to stay away from any border fights, and Jaypaw learnt that everyone's opinion of each other is very fickle in the valley.

He wasn't sure if he liked it.

The war ended when Sootstar lost a life because of StarClan. Jaypaw privately thought that that was the only way Sootstar would ever stop, and he was thankful for it.

Also during his first moon of his apprenticeship, Jaypaw met Hawkpaw and Smokepaw. He was immediately enamored with both of them, finding them extremely cool and cats to look up too. Hawkpaw tended to boss Jaypaw around, as he was the oldest out of them, but Jaypaw honestly did not care.

Hawkpaw was that cool.

Smokepaw was extremely cool too in Jaypaw's humble opinion. The tom was a lot like Jaypaw, but somehow managed to make it WORK. Jaypaw was extremely impressed with him, and tried to emulate him as much as possible.

A few moons passed as Jaypaw continued his apprenticeship, his skills in speed and battle tactics shining through. Hawkpaw had become Hawkcry by this point, and was this weird mixture of still bossing Jaypaw around but also not wanting to be seen really hanging around an apprentice. Jaypaw didn't care about stupid stuff like that, and continued to bother the other tom.

Tensions between the clans finally died down during this, but everyone had been scenting rogues more and more. Jaypaw wasn't too too worried about it- the rogues CLEARLY just realized how awesome it was to live in the valley.

It was during the last moon of Jaypaw's apprenticeship that things reached a boiling point. Smokepaw had become Smokefang and Jaypaw only had his brother to hang out with now. Not like he hadn't been hanging out with him before- but they all needed space at some point. But things became much much worse, as it came out that the rogues weren't there to live at the very cool valley- they had banded under Sleet, a rogue Jaypaw only heard stories about.

With StarClan warning them about this through Pinetail, the clans banded together to deal with the problem. Nearing warriorhood now, Jaypaw joined quiet a few patrols to help out, and just explore the valley beyond RavenClan's borders. He really wanted to see all new sights and places!

Warriorhood

Jaypaw became Jayshine for his strength of character, and Mottledpaw became Mottledclaw for his strength in battle. The ceremony high was short lived for Jayshine though, as they had to continue with the patrols and finding out information. Personally Jayshine liked how the leaders were doing this- he wasn't really one for fighting after all.

Finally it seemed like it was time, as the clans set up an ambush for Sleet and his gang of followers. Mottledclaw went to help, and tried to get Jayshine to join him, but Jayshine had taken one look at the surrounding cats joining the battle...and how little cats there were for guarding the camp.

So the tom stepped back and took up guard position at camp, sure that his brother would tell him all about the battle later. And what a story it was- Watcher being alive again, and escaping with Sleet and being around, and StarClan giving Watcher extra lives to save Pinetail and the old LynxClan medicine cat. Jayshine felt a prickle of apprehensiveness at the fact that Watcher was still around- but he believed that they would be fine. He also understood why StarClan did what they did- it saved a few cats lives after all.

Jayshine was just glad that everyone was ok and safe.

The next few moons Jayshine just spent enjoying the fact that he was a warrior- he got to pester Hawkcry even more and declared them best friends even if Hawkcry didn't agree. He also lost a lot of his hero worship for Smokefang, and the two tome became fast friends.

The tom also pestered another older warrior named Duststorm- the other told him stories about the patrols he went on during looking for Sleet, specifically the strange flying rock. Jayshine was ENTRANCED and fully believed the other about what he said.

It maaay have turned Jayshine into pestering all his other clanmates about weird and interesting stories like the one Duststorm told him.

The next moon signaled the start of leafbare, and with that, sickness. Jayshine fretted about as the amount of sick cats grew, worried sick about his friends and family. It only got worse when Mottledclaw feel sick along with their father Rockfang.

He could only thank StarClan when Ashflower came to assit them with the growing number of sick cats. During this time Jayshine went on as many herb-hunting patrols as he could to help out.

The next moon only caused the plague- and it was a plague at this point- to get worse. Mottledclaw grew even more sick, though their father thankfully recovered. Jayshine was usually an optomistic, but he was so worried about his brother's health that he didn't have it in him to think about the rest of the clan's health.

He kept on going on more and more herb patrols. Especially as Sootstar gets heavily sick and lost a life. Jayshine could only hope that Mottledclaw wouldn't get the same.

Thankfully, it seemed Ashflower being there helped, as the clan, and Mottledclaw, slowly recovered. Jayshine could only cry in relief when his brother walked out of the med den finally healthy. Of course it was then he collapsed. He later woke up being told he overworked himself, and that he really shouldn't have done that, honestly they don't need Jayshine now getting sick and bringing back the sickness.

Jayshine could only chuckle sheepishly and promise to take a nice long break from duties to recover.

It was during his recovery that Cricketleap stepped down, and Ashflower came over to join them. Jayshine had no qualms about Ashflower- after all the tom saved his father and brother's life. Cricketleap though? Well...Jayshine wasn't going to talk to him for a few moons. If the tom had done this before...Mottledclaw might not have made it.

The next couple of moons were fairly normal, though Ashflower and his family kept a close eye on Jayshine to make sure he didn't overwork himself again.

Soon though, word went around that rogues were being found murdered, and Healer came to the clans once again to for help. Jayshine, being the kind cat he was, immediately offered to help build up the shelters and look for matierials. The rogues were cats too! So Peppernose's plan was a ok in Jayshine's books.

Jayshine himself once again didn't participate in the final battle- as he once again overworked himself with the preperations. Thats why the tom was shocked when he heard the nurderers were cats from LynxClan and SnakeClan. Why...? Why would they do that? Why would they want to kill other cats no matter what? Jayshine could only be thankful that RavenClan was not a part of it.

Opinions in the valley really were fickle.

So Jayshine busied himself into his clan duties for the next few moons, only have Healer reach out to the clans once again with mysteries afoot. Rogues were having nightmares, and no one knew why....though Healer had a theory that it was connected to the increased mysterious deaths.

Jayshine, trusting, believed the rogue immediately.

Thankfully though, Jayshine has learnt- and been berated by his family and friends- on not to over work himself in helping, so the tom took it steady with going out on patrols to search. The patrols were...intersting, and honestly Jayshine didn't realize how mysterious and INTERESTING the valley really was. He loved it.

Three moons pass and while RavenClan had gotten the most information about what was going on, nothing has been conclusive. Jayshine continues to go out on patrols, and taking breaks when needed, so he doesn't overwork himself.
