Background

Born an incredibly talented warlock despite being from Agarthia, a planet known for their usually lower level of magical abilities, he traveled around picking up lessons and knowledge from different planets since he was 16. Viorel spent the first couple hundred years of his life pretty careless and enjoying life to its fullest without much purpose other than the joy of the moment. He had quite a few relationships throughout these years and despite him being faithful and caring towards his partner's he never felt like settling down before he found his true passion in life. Viorel discovered the art of jewelry-making at age 300 and became a goldsmith. After finishing his training he opened his own workshop and was mildly successful and at least renowned in the city he settled down in. There he met his wife Maisie and fell deeply in love with her. They had a sweet and comfortable life in the little city they lived in and soon had a daughter. Viorel lived for his family and his craft, mostly ignoring the great powers he was born with. He still taught his daughter Daciana everything he knew about magic as she showed the same potential as her father. 

Everything changed after he traveled outside the city one day to deliver one of his works and stumbled into a bloodbath by a beoól named Bloodsworth. He knew about their species and how incredibly hard to kill they are but he felt like he had to do something. He knew they could be starved to death so he put a curse on him that he could only consume life force as long as Viorel is physically close to him. Viorel hoped it would be simple and quick but he was mistaken. Bloodsworth was so enraged that as soon as he found Viorel's home he killed his wife. Viorel could flee with his daughter but he knew they would not be safe as long as Bloodsworth was still alive. He sent his daughter away in a way that not even he himself would be able to track her back anymore. It broke his heart but he was ready to do whatever it takes to keep Daciana safe. Since that day Viorel has been traveling around non-stop always trying to escape Bloodsworth long enough to finally kill him off. It has been a decade since then. 

Viorel has never stayed longer than two weeks anywhere in that time. He had no relationships, no place to live, a job or any contact with his daughter. The only friends he had were a group of people on the run that secretly meet each other very sporadically. The time he spent at the Bellerose Library, nearly two months, is the longest he has allowed himself to stay anywhere in that time and purely out of his affection for Lawr and the kids. Viorel desperately missed having a family which made him way too careless.

Trivia

- Viorel often proposes riddles to Lawr for him to solve, they often end in a play on words

- Collects pictures of Lawr when he's on the run. They are official material from when he was the commissioner. Burns them at some point because he knows how dangerous keeping them is. Saves one of the pictures despite knowing better

- Also collects one of the roses from Lawr's ribbon, the necklace he gets at the circle festival and the love letter Lawr wrote him

- The ring he gives Lawr in his proposal is one he made himself. It's made of wrapped copper wire and wrapped into a rose

- He made a twisted copper ring for himself to go along with Lawr's

- Takes up caring for Lawr's garden and plants while he is missing. Isn't that good at it but gets through well enough thanks to Lawr's notes. Feels connected to him through it and loves how pretty his handwritting is
