Jax

• Jakson was born on June 18, 1855, to Dove and Geoffrey Gourd on their small ranch. •

• Dove became seriously ill when Jakson was 4. Geoffrey had to take care of her, leaving only Kalvin, their first son, to take care of little Jakson. •

• Kalvin essentially had to raise him from that point. He taught Jakson how to ride a horse, how to milk a cow, and how to slaughter pigs. He gave him the nickname "Jax." •

• When Jax was about 10, he and Kalvin went to the local bar, the Tortoise Dove, for the first time (keep in mind that there was no legal drinking age back then). There, he met the bartender's son, Crowe. •

• He and Crowe became fast friends. Crowe's father, Goose, taught the boys the alphabet and how to read. His wife, Swan, taught them card tricks and how to cheat at card games. •

• When their parents realized how close they had become to Crowe's family, Geoffrey made it a point to dump him off on them whenever possible. •

• Jax spent almost all of his teenage years in that bar. He honed his tricks and cheats, became a master at Poker, and made plenty of money off of other people's gambling addictions. •

• Dove passed away when Jax was 18. Geoffrey had a mental breakdown and disappeared, leaving the deed for the ranch to Kalvin. •

• Neither of the boys were affected much by this; they never liked their parents much anyway. Just meant a little more work with the livestock. •

• Eventually, Jax and Crowe became secret lovers. Kalvin is the only one besides the two who knows. He doesn't really care. •

• When he's not working on the ranch, Jax can be found at the Tortoise Dove, cheating people out of their money. Kalvin acts as his bodyguard and drives away people that catch on to Jax's cheating. •
