Denali is a proud and resolute figure. Once nicknamed Prince of the North he took it to heart. He aspires to be a just, respected, and loved leader. He is a perfectionist in that he has difficulty accepting failure within himself. He is calm and thinks ahead. He generally puts the needs of the many before the few, particularly himself. He will answer the call of duty no matter the price it may ask of him. He asks for little and gives all he can because that is his duty. He is self sacrificing and can come off as aloof. Denali does his best to be both a good Pokemon and a good leader and is working on finding the balance between the two.

North of Unova where the cold winds blow, in a land akin to Alaska, lives a small province of Pokemon currently ruled over by a pair of Arcanine. These two Arcanine gave birth to a growlithe of silver and brown fur and icicles, their ice type child Denali. Why their son did not share their typing, nor the typing of their own species is unknown and speculated to be a simple mutation. Though odd this occurrence was not unheard of and so a tutor was hired to teach their son the ways of ice type pokemon.
Years passed and the growlithe grew under the tutelage of his family, tutor, and others who worked the grounds. He went out often to see the people and hear their troubles. He sat with his father as he listened to petitioners and learned to judge. He watched his mother as she volunteered to help the needy. He grew and developed, becoming an Arcanine and learning how to shepherd his people. As the son of leaders he did his best to fulfill his duties of watching over his people and governing them, but with both his parents fully alive and healthy and the province at peace there really wasn't much for him to do. Rumor does travel though and there have been whispers of trouble to the south in the region known as Unova. Speaking with his parents they agreed to allowing him to travel south to see what the trouble was and if he might be able to help. After all trouble to the south can always travel north, and at the very least the experience of travel would be good training for him.
So south he went, traveling into the Unova region. From Opelucid city he learned of an organization that had formed. Some kind of guild of rescuing pokemon? It sounded sorta like a knight to him, at the very least it was an organization dedicated to helping the citizens of the region. So he kept on heading south to join up with The Guild. It seemed like a good starting point, a base to operate from, people to learn about the area from, a way to discover the troubles going on, and a job that fulfills his duty all wrapped into one convenient ball.
