Plum is a bubbly, happy gem, who doesn't get down very easily. She likes to procrastinate, and is hyper, often dancing with her broom in the village square. A very affectionate gem, she loves to make others smile and laugh, especially the most grumpiest of people. There is a bit of pride in her appearance, and like other Pearls, tends to be an appearance first sort of person.
Plum Pearl once was owned by Mystic Merlinite, a seer for White Diamond. Mystic Merlinite saw into the future, and saw the war happening. Unfortunately, Merlinite was unable to see when the war would happen. Out of fear, Merlinite took Plum and left homeworld in their ship, wandering the cosmos for ages, until they crashed into Earth after being hit by a comet. Merlinite, upon impact, covered Plum to protect her, and shattered as a result. Merlinite’s shards flew everywhere across the globe, and it took Plum several hundred years to find the shards. This is because for an estimated 700 years, Plum had her first taste of freedom and greatly enjoyed it. After a while, she began to feel guilty, as Merlinite protected her from death. Eventually, Plum found the last shard in Utah, where Smoked Topaz was at the time. Afraid for her life, Plum tried to trap Smoked Topaz in a bubble, but Smoked Topaz defeated Plum first, and trapped her in her own bubble instead. Eventually, Smoked Topaz took Plum to the Hidden Village of Gems, where Smoked Topaz released Plum from her bubble. Plum, scared witless, ran off into the forest nearby, and hid for several decades. One day, Plum heard joyful music nearby. When she went to investigate, she witnessed gems dancing in a circle laughing and smiling in the village square. She slowly walked towards the music and stood near the dancing gems. Suddenly, one of the gems dancing grabbed Plum and took her into their circle. She started to dance and have fun. Eventually, she came to care for the village and decided to stay, specifically near the square. Eventually, Plum took Merlinite’s remains and gave them to Moldavite, who restored her in her lab. However, Plum is no longer bound to Merlinite, as Merlinite released Plum from her service.
Plum loves The Hidden Village. It's her one and only home she's really ever known of. Homeworld meant nothing to her in terms of a home.

Even though Plum no longer belongs to Merlinite, she still has a sense of respect for her, and sees her as a older figure to look up to.
Best Friend
Bismuth is considered a close friend to Plum, and even though they have pretty much opposite personalities, they get along rather well. She bugs him quite a lot in his hut.
- Her gem cut is on her belly button!
- The pupil color is not black, it is plum color.
