Jass

Backstory

Jass is a nerdy young adult savant who excelled at creating robots and programming. He was so focused on his work that he never made many friends, except for the Ais he created. Or one Ai in particular, Nerve. This Ai started as a simple chatbot but slowly became sentient as Jass spent every waking moment building upon the program. Jass felt bad he didn’t have a body to store the Ai in and it merely lived in a small chat box, so he decided to implant it into his head. It did not go as well as planned. Jass was not the most careful when busting through his skull to allow the Ai access to his brain and ended up bleeding heavily. When the Ai synced to Jass’s body, it only understood that the host was bleeding and that bleeding could lead to death. It tried to cauterize the wound by sending out a shock that only injured Jass worse. The current scarred him permanently, burst the pupil of his right eye, severed many connections in the right side of his brain, and only barely missed his heart. This injury resulted in Jass suffering from a make-shift DIY lobotomy which caused him many troubles in emotions, social skills, and empathy. After his accident, Jass was rushed to the hospital where it was quickly discovered that the implant had burrowed itself so far into Jass’s brain that taking it out would kill them both. Upon waking up he was heavily interrogated by government officials who decided that having a sentient Ai and a boy who could make them on the loose would be dangerous. Jass was ‘officially’ pronounced dead and was kept under governmental supervision, landing himself a ‘paid internship’ with the government at the age of 16.
