Eris Eventide

Basic

Eris is a student at NSAD studying music and art history. She is widely regarded as a prodigy and the most well known member of her graduating class for both her merits in school and Mech fighting. Eris holds the title of undefeated champion in the underground mech fighting scene. She has extremely high standards for herself and people around her, as well as a volatile temper. She craves stability and any hint of large scale change puts her off and sends her into disarray. She presents herself as very sophisticated. She tends to surround herself with very few people and mostly focuses on her studies and keeping up her appearance. She despises her nemesis, Reese Mitchell, for being an aimless loser. She wishes for a genuine connection with someone who can stand on equal ground with her.

In Depth

Eris is the only heir of the Eventide family. Her mech, ANDROMEDA, has been passed down for three generations and she is the first female to wield the mech. Her father piloted ANDROMEDA before her, and wished to train her himself as she grew older, but his untimely demise from an unknown illness threw a wrench into this plan. Instead, Eris is trained by her paternal grandfather, and coached by her mother Elia. Eris's mother is stern, unyielding, and manipulative, giving Eris little to no freedom at all until her acceptance to NSAD. Even after her acceptance to NSAD, the control that Eris believes she has over herself (cutting her hair, piercing her face) is only an illusion. Elia allows her to act out in this manner to exercise Eris's free will out of her. Elia is the reason that Eris has no friends, seeing as she learned her meticulous, picky, lofty tendencies from Elia, and Elia tends to insult and belittle anyone who comes into contact with Eris. Though Eris has no idea that the freedom she believes she has is a lie, she is not blind to her mother's intentions with her, instead giving the illusion herself that she is a complacent and two-dimensional teenage girl. 

Relationships

Reese Mitchell: Reese is Eris's rival and enemy. To Eris, Reese represents everything that she despises. Someone whose talent with mech competes with Eris's own, who has done little to no work to get to that point, whereas Eris has trained her whole life and endured a decade of overwork and cruelty from her mother. Eris feels that Reese does not deserve her talent, she is jealous and bitter and afraid to admit that Reese makes her insecure. She views Reese as a threat and competitor to her name, her glory, and her mother's love. Reese is also surrounded by friends and allies, the two things Eris craves more than anything in her life. Eris is so jealous of the freedom Reese has in her life that she lashes out and pushes herself too hard to best Reese. 

Oakley Northfield: Oakley is Eris's boyfriend, though Eris has no clue that he is being paid to hang out with her by Elia. Eris didn't even want a boyfriend to begin with, but Elia figured that having one would make her more human and approachable in the mech scene. Oakley appears to be kind and patient with Eris, so she has reluctantly formed an unhealthy attachment to him seeing as he is the only thing resembling a friend in her life. Seeing as Eris has not had much experience with friends or men, she is naive to the fact that Oakley hangs out with Reese & Co and regularly sleeps with Lizzie behind her back. 

Lizzie Bones: Eris sees Lizzie as an annoying extension of Reese. On their first day of class at NSAD, Lizzie tried to befriend Eris, but was quickly shot down, and since then Lizzie has been made easily open to hating Eris. As the NSAD class grows more accustomed to each other, Lizzie and Eris develop a mutual dislike of each other that runs deeper than annoyance. Eris dislikes Lizzie because she is such a good friend to Reese.

Charlie Renfrough: Charlie, as Oakley's best friend and right hand man, has a basic understanding of Eris and pities her deeply as he knows that Oakley is sleeping around. He is sweet, patient, and kind with her despite constantly being shot down and snubbed by her. In spite of this, they are not friends, and given the choice Charlie would rather not go to the Eventide estate, seeing as being there creeps him out.
