They/Them - Forgotten Dimensional Traveler - AroAce

Many years ago Enigma was considered one of the brightest scientists in their time, a prodigy of discovering new things every time they set their mind to it. They were proud of their accomplishments, and quite humble about it too; they simply had a insatiable curiosity of the world around them and they would fulfill it at all costs. Respected by many of their colleagues, they were set to make history with just how many contributions they had made to science. Always finding a solution to problems, they found that their curiosity would lead them to new places. However, that said curiosity would be their downfall as a terrible accident would soon take place.

At a convention, they found themselves particularly intrigued by newly created portal system, with many of their colleagues awestruck by it. They all watched as the kalons behind it used object to demonstrate its powers by transporting goods much quicker than the speed of light. It was a honor when they asked Enigma to test it out for themselves as one of the brightest minds would evaluate it. Enigma gladly obliged as they wanted to try it out for themselves, a fatal mistake. As soon as Enigma stepped in the portal, it was smooth sailing at first with nothing that seemed to be able to go wrong. They admired the machine as they traveled, unaware of the disaster next to come. 

On the outside, the machine started to malfunction, as smoke started to rise out of it as the kalons desperately tried to cool it down and fix it. But to no avail and much to their horror, the machine shook violently and exploded into flames as the portals broke with Enigma still inside of it. Even after the flames were put out, it wouldn’t turn on again and Enigma was nowhere to be seen, The portal itself was sent under investigation where there was no wrongdoing or foul play from any party, aside from the faulty machine. Enigma at this point was now considered dead, and much of the scientific community grieved for them as they had lost Enigma to a horrible accident. The portal machine was deemed too unsafe to ever turn on again, and it was locked away in a abandoned warehouse, forgotten.

However during all of this Enigma was still alive screaming and crying for help as they found themselves being torn through time and space, causing pain throughout their entire body as they were now uncontrollably moving through dimensions. Enigma found themselves unable to do anything as any energy they had would quickly be evaporated as they were flung across realities as their memory of the life they had before deteriorated. With every new dimension they were thrown in, they would lose more and more of themselves as they traveled until the point they only remembered their name. While they found themselves able to remember eventually if they stayed long enough in a dimension, it would quickly be torn away as they teleported somewhere new. While they encountered other kalons as they were thrown across worlds, while they tried to help none of them could save Enigma. They cannot remember them, as they are stuck in a loop of worlds with every bit of their memory and every once of the energy torn away each time Enigma slightly recovered. They cannot tell how many years they have been stuck like this, as they’ve given up going back home. While they seem to possess reality warping capabilities and a very high chance of being fully and truly immortal, it matters little to them.

In the present Enigma occasionally appears in the town, freaking the residents out. Though their presence is very little compared to the rest of the phenomena that routinely occurs, Felipe finds himself interested in them as he documents whatever conversations he and Enigma have in the short time they have together. Strangely enough, Felipe recently found a broken down machine in a abandoned warehouse that he’s been trying to fix for ages on end. And Enigma seems to appear around it a lot...
