Imagine a woman who hates you, and has so many ants that she carries around in a big gourd, and a magic stick that can freeze time, and she wants to be rude to you with these things. This is Bite.

I Bite The Feet of Kings (known by a different name at the time) grew up in the city of Lathe, born to a family of potters and, once upon a time, content to be a potter herself. She was talented and passionate at her trade and quickly rose in status among the artisans of the city...until disaster struck. Barely into her thirties, she found herself stricken with the misunderstood affliction now known as Hansen's disease. It stiffened her joints, robbing her of the hands needed to do her work, and even worse, turned her into a social pariah nearly overnight; cast out to the slums at the edges of the city, the friends and family she'd trusted for so long becoming like ghosts with the distance they put between themselves and her. Desperate for any door back into social acceptance, Bite managed to sign on with the Realm military for a short time, serving in the infamous Vermillion Legion, but even there, among other outcasts, her worsening condition eventually led to her being left behind. She would have died out there, alone and betrayed in the arid scrubland, if Luna hadn't seen her anger and her willingness to survive and found it worthy. The god of the moon appeared before her in the form of a silver leafcutter ant to grant her their blessing, passing the shape onto her and leading her to a nearby hive; a tiny city in the wilderness where she was welcomed as a sister and nursed back to health. She lived among ants as an ant for nearly two years before returning to human form and realizing the full scope of her new powers; and when she did, it was as a very different person. It was soon after that she took her name.

I Bite the Feet of Kings despises humanity. In her opinion, it has shown its true face to her twice now, and she's finally wise enough to realize that if it wants nothing to do with her, she wants nothing to do with it. She spends most of her time in the shapes of various other social animals, living with them among their herds, packs, and hives, finding her company with the things of the field and forest. When she does deign to return to her human form, it is usually to sew chaos and discord. She despises the rich and the powerful above all, and loves to be a thorn in their side wherever she travels, whether through trickery and gossip, through direct humiliation, or through trouble delivered in animal form; a plague of locusts here, a swarm of ants there. Besides this troublemaking, though, she tends to stay aloof from the world of man; she has better company to choose from, after all. Those that do find themselves in the rare position to socialize with her find her a wry, bitter cynic, blunt and hard to start conversations with unless she is gleefully undermining whatever point they are trying to make or ranting at length about how much better ants are than people.

There is one exception to this rule...the residents a tiny fortress town known as the Congregation of Dogs. Once just part of the very slums she was exiled to, Bite was shocked to find, on her return to her home region, that the former pariah colony had since liberated itself to become a fortified sanctuary city for all manner of outcasts, exiles, and runaway slaves. She is fascinated by the goodwill and courage she sees displayed by the rebels and revolutionaries of the Congregation, and has become something of a distant, mysterious guardian for the town, living invisibly among the ants and strays of the city only to appear from nowhere when forces come to threaten it. An eternal pessimist, Bite expects that if she hangs around long enough the other shoe will drop and she'll find a reason to write off the people of the Congregation as being just like the people who let her down in the past...but a small, hoarse part of her hopes she doesn't. She's far lonelier than she dares to admit.

Trivia:

  • Bite is trans. Like other trans Lunars, the transformative nature of her exaltation aided in her transition.
  • Carries an enormous gourd on her back, inside of which live ants descended from those of her original 'home' colony. They can swarm out in huge numbers to aid her in battle.
  • She's taken the colony queen as a familiar to her ensure her safety; if for some reason the colony is lost, the queen will allow her to rebuild their numbers.
  • Has recovered from her illness, but holds onto the scars it left her with as a badge of pride and identity; she has no interest in trusting anyone who wont accept her as she is.
  • Besides her ant form, her most-used forms are that of a stray dog and a horrible goose.
  • Fights with a staff and employs a style focused on dodging her opponents blows and frustrating them with jabs, jibes, and misdirection.
  • Rarely fights with intent to kill; she usually fights to humble or humiliate her foes.
  • Gets emotional and sappy when she's drunk, much to her utter horror.
  • Has an extremely potent sweet tooth.
