North ᛉ

North is born to her mother, Snow, during the cold season of Samhain. Her mother captivates her with ancient stories of the great forest Caledonia that they call home and of Cernunnos, the great lord of the wild things. Snow instills in her a deep respect and reference for all life, even as a Sealgair who must take and consume life to survive.

North is separated from her mother and found by Thistle and Root, two Eurasian wolves of Alder's clan. Root, familiar with the myths and rituals of Caledonia as the clan Druid, remarks on the marking ᛉ upon North's forehead. It is the Algiz, the rune of protection. Seeing this as a message from the gods, he insists to Thistle that they must take the kit to their clan for her safety and help to find her mother. Thistle questions the truth behind these beliefs and states it could just be a marking, and is chastised by Root for spending too much time talking to the dogs at the nearby human clan...

After the wolves are unable to find North's mother, she is adopted into their clan under the protection of chief Alder and his mate, Juniper. Presuming her mother to be dead and having sighted no other Lynx in years, North is believed to be the last OF HER KIND. When she is grown, she takes comfort in learning from Root about the laws and customs of Caledonia, and listening to Clover - the clan bard - spin tales of the myths and gods of the land. North is never made to feel unwelcome by the clan despite being of a different species. She struggles to relate to the open comeraderie and kinship shared between the wolves, missing the intimacy of private, quality time with her mother and wishing she could find that elsewhere. Still, North loves her adoptive family and friends dearly, so much that she chooses to stay with them despite being more inclined by nature towards a solitary life.

Her life enjoys relative normalcy for 3 years, until the humans begin pushing onto the land that the clan call home, their dogs bring ideas that threaten the harmonious way of life in the forest, and North begins to have increasingly frequest dreams of a great, magnicient deer with strange, enormous antlers unlike any deer or Creach she's ever seen...

(North's story is actively being developed and written for self-publishing as a novel, so I don't want to give too much away. Stay tuned! Please note that there are also some AU's where she's in the same universe as friend's OCs, such as Louixie and Robin. The things written here are canon, but AUs are fun!)
