Profile
Meant to star in a 2D platformer video game, Neo's creation began through her character designer, Nova. Codenamed "Project Neorama", the upcoming title was set in a futuristic, heavily 80s-inspired city in which Neo had to adventure utilizing her trusty hoverboard, the "Supernova". The project was seeming like a success until the company Nova works for suddenly decided to revamp the game into a sandbox, exploration 3D game by switching game engines. Nova happened to have done some 3D work in the past, and thus she was pressured into converting Neo into a 3D model in an abrupt amount of time in order to push the game for holiday sales. Endless sleepless nights and unlimited caffine consumption ensued, on top of the intense crunch time. In the creation process, Nova had passed away due to the overworking environment, and Neo's model has never been completed. Avoiding any press releasing about the unfortunate death, Nova's company proceeded to destroy every file of the game, and passed it off as the project being "cancelled". Although...somewhere deep down... the game files have not been truly deleted. Neo is still out there, now trying to restore her city that is heavily corrupted from the process of being transformed into 3D back into 2D.
PersonalityThrough her initial creation period, Neo was not given much development in regards to her personality. However, the corruption process had turned things around for Neo, with her intially being more frantic while trying to figure out how to save her city. After some time Neo calmed down, but still worries if she can save her city, or even herself. Project Neorama was not planned to include NPCs either, but Neo isn't aware of this, so she is trying to find if there are other people within the city. Thus, Neo has not had many face-to-face interactions. Despite this, Neo, through the file corruption process, is very caring and stands determined in achiving her goals to save her city.
Design Notes
- The shapes that float near Neo's face can be any shape, as long as it follows the same color palette. Pyramids happen to be the most common form.
- When riding the Supernova, the hoverboard produces a trail of geometric shapes and neon lines! (haven't illustrated this yet)
- Though it is covered up by her jacket, Neo's right (your left) arm is almost entirely covered by the 3D wireframes.(haven't illustrated this yet)
Neo's creator, specifically involved in her character design. However, Neo has no awareness of Nova...haha jk...unless?
