APPEARANCE

A broad, long-haired torbie she-cat with three white paws and a nick in her right ear. Beartooth is, put simply, a massive cat; she's taller than average and rather big boned. Couple this with the muscles of a clan cat, and she makes for a rather formibable looking cat. Her eyes are narrow and a pale yellow. Her pelt is littered with scars, with only the worst of them showing through her thick pelt. Her tail is stumpy, and has no potential for movement.

Design notes
  • Beartooth has huge paws that are a little disproportionate to her body
  • She has maine coon and norwegian forest cat in her blood, making her large and very fluffy!
  • Her ears are a typical maine coon's; triangular, with tufts of fur at the end
  • Her fur is very long and puffy!
  • Her face is square in shape, and her cheek fur hangs downwards, similar to a lynx
  • Save for her facial markings, the dark stripes don't have to be 100% accurate!
Personality

Strong
Both physically and emotionally, Beartooth tends to be an anchor for which others can ground themselves to. It can lead to some finding her intimidating, while others find it inspiring

Level-headed
She tends not to let her emotions get the best of her, leading her to make rational decisions, even if emotionally she’d wish for something different

Diligent
Nothing is left half done when Beartooth is on the case. If she starts something, she has to see it through. While she may not have a great eye for detail, she’ll work tirelessly until her job is done

Responsible
She won’t run off just because something is difficult.

Humble
For better or worse, Beartooth does not take credit for the things she has done and does not boast about her accomplishments, seeing it as necessary work to keep the Clan strong.

Gay
Yes. This is a character trait. Beartooth has a hard time focusing around beautiful cats, and has lost her train of thought more than once because of their presence. She tries to cover this up by acting quiet and thoughtful, but it doesn’t always work

Aloof
She can be a little standoffish and intimidating, pervaded by a resting bitch face that makes her difficult to approach. She’s not very in tune with her emotions, either, which can make interacting with her interesting.

Stubborn
Beartooth is stubborn as a bull. If she doesn’t want to do something, she’ll be hard pressed to do it- though there are weak spots of hers that can negate this (i.e. see gay)

Blunt
Perhaps Beartooth’s worst trait, she is blunt to the point of detriment. If you do not want the truth told you in as few brutal words as possible, do not ask Beartooth’s opinion on something

Sarcastic
It’s rare, but she has been known to be sarcastic when traditional bluntness either can’t be used or isn’t working. It’s the closest she can get to actually lying

Likes
  • Being curled up in her nest while it rains outside
  • Having a well-earned break after working hard all day
  • That after-workout soreness
Dislikes
  • Cobwebs in her pelt
  • MossClan’s thirst for power
  • Heavy rain (esp. getting soaked to the bone bc of it, her fur takes forever to dry)

History

{Kithood}
Bearkit was born in a litter of two to her mother, Peltier, who took shelter in MossClan after the death of her mate shortly before kitting. Bearkit and her brother, Creekkit, grew up alongside the kits of MossClan and learned their ways. Over time, Peltier began to develop a relationship with a MossClan she-cat by the name of Barleybreeze.

Bearkit grew up believing this MossClan cat was simply her other mother. Barleybreeze was nurturing, and kind, and made her mother happy: what more could Bearkit ask for? Barleybreeze ended up being the driving force behind Bearkit striving to become a warrior of the Clan that took her in.

{Apprenticeship}
Upon apprenticeship, Bearpaw was given to a cat by the name of Skybreeze. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t initially intimidated by his deep voice and scarred appearance, but his calm personality shone through rather quickly, and Bearpaw found herself warming up to her mentor quickly, in her own way. Though she was never a cat of many words, she would look forward to their training sessions, and looked up to him as the closest thing she had to a father in her life.

Apprenticeship made her a busy cat, and although she trained alongside her brother, they slowly began to drift apart. They shared meals with each other less and less as he began disappearing from camp, rather than hanging around his sister. Though she was upset about his absence, she didn’t think much of it at the time.

She was made a warrior after defending the Clan’s camp from enemy intruders. She suffered a few injuries from it, but came away from the fight having chased off an enemy warrior who was larger than her. Pumastar saw her bravery and named her Beartooth, along with her brother, Creekshine.

{Warriorhood}
The beginning of Beartooth’s warriorship was marred in sorrow. Only a few moons after her and Creekshine were dubbed warriors, Creekshine left camp to find “where they came from.” Though Beartooth didn’t agree with his leaving, and Peltier pleaded with him not to go, he disappeared the next morning and hasn’t been heard from since.

Peltier was devastated- Barleybreeze consoled her as best she could, but it put Peltier in a state of depression. Beartooth, unsure how to hold her family together, simply made her best efforts into being a warrior; bringing home extra prey, going on extra patrols, picking up her mother’s slack along with Barleybreeze. She was lonely, but was so busy with clan duties, she didn’t have much time to dwell on it.

Cue Nala. A beautiful rosetted she-cat, lithe and sleek and fierce. She hung around the outskirts of MossClan territory, and Beartooth was smitten instantly. They had a brief scuffle at the border before Beartooth decided to let her go- unable to do any real harm to the she-cat. So began secret meetings and blossoming romance. Nala was demanding, and pushy, but was sweet at times, and Beartooth didn’t have the proper experience to know that your crush shouldn’t raise a paw to you.

She’d come home with scratch marks for not bringing her the right prey, or for making Nala wait too long, and although Peltier was too depressed to see the marks her daughter had on her, Barleybreeze was more observant. She tried talking to Beartooth, who only made excuses for the various scratches.

During this time, Beartooth also received an apprentice: Whitepaw, a sweet, mellow boy who was so eager to become an apprentice. Beartooth was happy to teach him all she knew, and Whitepaw soaked everything up like a sponge. He was, perhaps, a bit too naive, and didn’t understand all the things in the world that could hurt him, but they got along well.

The romance between Nala and Beartooth, however, was short-lived: Nala got frustrated with sharing Beartooth’s time with her apprentice, and left Beartooth with only a curt goodbye. She was confused and crushed. Only after Nala left was she able to talk with her mothers about what really happened: they were upset for their daughter, but helped her come to terms with the relationship and move on.

Whitepaw, on the other paw, took a turn for the worse. An outbreak of greencough hit MossClan, and Whitepaw succumbed to it. Despite the Clan’s best medicine and the Priest’s fervent prayers, Whitepaw passed roughly one week after contracting it, devastating Beartooth. Despite it not being her fault, she can’t help but think what would have happened if she had trained him to be stronger, or had done something differently.

More moons passed, and Creekshine ws still nowhere to be found. Peltier, fearing for her child’s safety, wants to search for him. Barleybreeze won’t let her go alone, but Beartooth stays- what if Creekshine comes home? Someone will have to be here to greet them, and MossClan would suffer a heavy blow if they lost three warriors at once. So, they said their goodbyes, with a promise to be back once they’ve found information on Creekshine.

For some time after being alone in MossClan, she meets another cat: a Hawthorn cat by the name of Chasingsky. Despite a rocky start, they quickly become friends, with Beartooth crushing heavily on the fierce she-cat. All of that changed, however, when MossClan was set ablaze- when she discovered that Chasingsky was the culprit, she was devastated. Unable to raise a paw against her friend, she instead banishes herself from MossClan territory to live life as a rogue.

{Rogue Life}
Now, she takes her days one day at a time: she has to. She does what she can to survive, ignores the loneliness that’s taken up residence in her heart, and hope it’s enough. She currently lives in an abandoned Twoleg farm with Rose, a loner who she'd met once before. Beartooth is a shadow of her former self: defeated, ashamed, and showing little care for her own life.

Trivia

  • NOMENCLATURE
  • Bear — For her brown pelt and large size
  • Tooth — For her toughness
  • Beartooth currently doesn't know what she wants in life. She feels lonely, and without much connection in MossClan. Her only real tether is the absence of her brother.
  • Beartooth is extremely claustrophobic. Caves and dens are fine, but things like burrows, or tight, narrow spaces freak her out.
Relationships

Birth Mother

Peltier was a bit awkward as a mother, and not very confident, but she loved her kits with all her soul, and always tried to do what was best for them. Beartooth believes in this wholeheartedly, and is thankful to her for providing them with this home.

Brother
7745356_UbxFaTbtSE8Egg6.png

They used to be close as kits, slowly growing apart as time progressed. He split off from MossClan shortly after earning his warrior name- Beartooth isn’t sure of his fate, but she hopes that wherever he is, he’s doing alright.

Adopted Mother
7745356_UbxFaTbtSE8Egg6.png

As far as Beartooth is concerned, she’s just as much her mother as Peltier is. She was kind and encouraging, treated Beartooth and Creekshine as her own, and was by all technicalities a perfect counterpart to Peltier.

Friend / Crush

What started as a fight on the border ended up in an unlikely friendship between the Moss and Hawthorn cats. Beartooth admires her friend's tenacity and courage, and is still learning to accept a friend who doesn't come with conditions; nor has she accepted that her heart skips a beat every time she sees her.

Apprentice

Her current apprentice. She envies his enthusiasm for life, and hopes to StarClan that he never loses it. She wants to protect him from the dangers of the world, but know that won't always be possible. She only hopes she won't fail him like she did Whitepaw.

Ex

A whirlwind romance- Nala was aggressive, fierce, and bold, and Beartooth was smitten with her from the start. They’ve since separated, and although Beartooth has accepted this and moved on, she sometimes finds herself being upset that she still misses her. She’s slowly unraveling that their relationship was not healthy in the slightest.
