Profile

Daymian Auravalle is a male dragon born in 275 ADD in the hidden frozen kingdom of Auravalle. He is the legendary Drekloga, the Last Dragon, whose existence had been kept secret to prevent Concentra's corrupt ways from abusing his powers. But after many years in isolation from the rest of the world, he was forced to surrender himself to the kingdom of Polaris so Auravalle would be spared from their tyrannical rule. He would eventually become the symbol of hope to defeat corruption and make the world safe for the return of the dragons.

Personality

Daymian is a very respectful and kind dragon who places responsibility and generosity over power and status. He believes in fighting for what's right and is not hesitant to stand up against those he disagrees with. He prefers to avoid conflict, but is willing to get involved if he believes people's lives are in danger. He is resistant to corruption, and will always try to take the honorable path.

Abilities

As a Crystal Elemental, Daymian has the power of diamond magic, which allows him to crystallize objects as well as harness the energy of crystals to channel them into his magical aura.

Like most dragons, Daymian can fly due to his large wings and tail.

He is a master at diplomacy, able to reduce tension with words rather than fighting.

He breathes an icy blue fire breath.

He is very skilled with his war scythe, and knows how to combine fighting techniques with his ability to fly.

He has a very powerful prehensile tail, with a sharp diamond spade at its tip, which can be used as a whip to slice through his opponents.

Design

Daymian has mainly icy silver scales which glitter in the light. White scales run down his belly to the end of his tail. His eyes are a bright sky blue. Sharp silver blue curved horns jut out from his cheeks and the top of his head. His sharp claws are an identical blue to his horns. His royal blue hair poofs on his forehead and sticks out in the back, with white tips. The end of his tail has a large blue diamond spade. Two massive silver wings fold together on his upper back, which stretch to reveal a softer white flexible support. His body, face, and tail are patterned with blue diamond shapes in his scales.

Attire

Daymian's standard outfit consists of a blue sleeveless undershirt overlaid with steel straps which cross over his chest. A large blue diamond-shaped crystal adorns the center. He wears a blue waistband with steel plates in the shape of dragon scales layered over his hips and the base of his tail. At the center of the waistband is a similar blue crystal as the one on his chest. Silver plates are strapped over his knees. He wears a set of diamond-shaped carbon shoulder pads, as well as matching carbon bracers and leggings on his wrists and calves.

Story

The Egg of the Drekloga

275 years before he was born, a glistening blue dragon egg was discovered by a wolf named Winterspear in the abandoned remnants of the dragon civilization Nordryk on the island of Glacen in the Distant North. With the disappearance of the dragons due to the recently concluded Dragon/Elemental War, dragons were thought to be extinct, but Winterspear realized the dragon egg was still alive, and brought it back to the kingdom of Auravalle, where it was given to Auravallen scientists to protect in an incubator.

For nearly three centuries, Auravalle kept their existence a secret from the rest of Concentra in order to preserve the egg, which had been designated the Egg of the Drekloga, meaning Egg of the Last Dragon. Scientists had tried unsuccessfully to initiate the development of the embryo, but no experiment yielded results. Until an expedition back to Nordryk resulted in the discovery of a stash of pure diamonds in the ruins of the building where the egg was originally recovered. Upon their return to Auravalle, the scientists placed the diamonds in the incubation chamber of the egg, and added the simulation of a dragon mother to the environment. Within days, the egg began to develop.

Early Life

The Drekloga was born a year later when his egg finally hatched. After several months of study, he was put into the care of Marak Winterspear, the Commander of the Fryst Vorna, the Auravallen royal guard, and descendent of Winterspear the wolf who had originally discovered the egg. Marak gave him the name Daymian, a name originating from Dragon Culture, in order to preserve his heritage as the last dragon on Concentra. There he was raised along with Marak's wife Aila and their daughter Frida. He soon became very close with Frida, growing up together in the halls of Fryst Castle. For the next five years, Auravalle ensured Daymian had a healthy and caring environment, while also studying him immensely, and it wasn't too long before they noticed his natural Crystal Elemental abilities beginning to develop. And with his new powers also came new dangers as word of Daymian's existence became more commonplace throughout the kingdom. This increased the risk of the outside world discovering Auravalle and abducting him to use his powers for their own benefit. To ensure the kingdom's security, the royal family assigned Aila to accompany merchants traveling throughout the northern ocean so Daymian was kept secret from the nomads and other kingdoms of the Distant North. And while on one such trip, she never returned.

Daymian's family was devastated at the loss of Aila, but Marak knew he had to continue fulfilling his duty as Commander. As a result, Daymian spent much of his time growing up with Frida in the care of the palace guards. During this time, Auravalle saw him as a symbol of hope for Concentra, and crafted an education schedule that would teach him the importance of honor and dedication to protecting his kingdom. For eight years, he toured the kingdom, meeting with many of its citizens and learning their life stories in order to foster good relations with his people. But this was not without risk. As his image went public, it became increasingly more difficult to regulate the information that traveled beyond Auravalle's walls, and it wasn't long before the Legend of the Drekloga was a whispered rumor throughout the Distant North. Nevertheless, Daymian continued to prove he would be a great leader in the future. And at his thirteenth birthday, he stood on the balcony of Fryst Castle to address the kingdom, with Frida by his side. There, he announced he was taking Auravalle to be his family name in order to honor the people that had raised him. Not long after, Daymian was enrolled in classes that would teach him diplomacy as well as combat and battle strategies. Meanwhile, Frida was enlisted into the Fryst Vorna training program in order to be a guard, meaning the two would not see each other as often.

The First Siege

Four years had passed, and with Daymian now 17 years old he was nearly mature enough to enter Auravallen politics officially. Meanwhile, Frida had finally been inducted into the Fryst Vorna as a guard, and was then assigned under her father's command. But their peace was soon interrupted when the neighboring kingdom of Polaris invaded, seeking to capture Daymian to prove the Drekloga legend was true. During the siege, Daymian was protected in the catacombs beneath Fryst Castle, wishing he could have been by Frida's side in the ongoing battle. The battle was intense, and though it seemed as if Auravalle was about to be overrun, the Polari army was defeated by Frida's newly unlocked Elemental Ice powers. Daymian was relieved that they had won, but Frida had been badly injured, becoming blinded in her left eye after she had been slashed by the Polari leader, a polar bear named Sila Koldear.

A Time of Peace

Daymian returned to his duties in the Auravallen royal court. After she had healed, Frida went back to her training in the guard, meaning the two were rarely allowed to see each other. During this time, Daymian educated himself on the current state of the world beyond Auravalle. Conflict was arising in many regions, but the ongoing war between the Northern Empire and the Sur Kingdoms was rapidly speeding up the use of Concentra's limited natural resources, and Daymian knew if the war prolonged the world could be left in a state of disrepair. He proposed ways Auravalle could help stop the war, but the court insisted the kingdom must remain unknown to the rest of the world if they wanted to survive, as the Empire was known for assimilating formerly independent nations into their territories.

Eventually, Daymian had earned his place as a valuable perspective among the royal court, and had also mastered his combat craft with his war scythe. And six years after the Polari had invaded, Daymian stood proudly among the court as Frida was promoted to Commander of the Fryst Vorna after Marak's advanced age forced him to retire. As Commander, Frida was assigned to be the personal bodyguard of the Drekloga, and for the next two years, she accompanied Daymian to all of his court meetings. During this time, the tensions between Auravalle and Polaris were rising once again, and they knew it wouldn't be long before the kingdoms clashed.

The Second Siege

Daymian and Frida were training in the courtyards of Fryst Castle one morning when Polari forces arrived at the gates, this time with much greater numbers than the army from eight years before. Frida wasted no time in deploying the Fryst Vorna to defend, but they were vastly outmatched, and soon the bears were approaching the entrance to the castle. To protect him, Daymian and Frida hid in the catacombs beneath the castle, but Frida's absence in battle allowed the Polari to overrun the kingdom. And though they were able to escape beyond the walls, the kingdom officially fell when the royal family was captured by Sila Koldear. With no access to the rest of the guard, Daymian and Frida were alone as they trekked through the icy cliffs of the Distant North.

One morning a few days after the siege, Frida left Daymian alone while she scouted for a place to hide him before they could figure out a way to liberate the kingdom. Not wanting to sit and do nothing while she was gone, Daymian discreetly flew back to Auravalle, watching as the Polari rounded up its citizens and harshly punished anyone who protested. Eventually, he was able to infiltrate Fryst Castle, where the royal family and Frida's father were still being held. Sila had asserted herself on the throne while she held a meeting with Marak, who pleaded to let the innocent civilians go free. Daymian eavesdropped as Sila threatened to kill his people unless Marak confirmed the Drekloga's existence. And though he initially denied, Marak finally revealed to Sila that Daymian was real after she had ordered the Polari to begin public torture of the Auravallens. Deeply angered by her actions, and even angrier that he was powerless to do anything, Daymian flew back to camp, where he found Frida had returned. And after revealing to her what he had discovered at Auravalle, Frida decided she would need to kill Sila in order to end Polaris' occupation.

The next day, Frida showed Daymian a Polari langskip she had discovered while she was out, and that they could return to Auravalle if they commandeered it. Engaging the Polari alone, Frida was soon badly injured and unable to continue fighting. But before she was killed, an archer cow intervened and fended off the remaining bears. Realizing he had to help, and with no point in concealing his identity any longer, Daymian flew into battle, his intimidating figure enough to get the Polari soldiers to surrender the langskip. The cow soon introduced herself as Blizzard Snowgrazer, a bounty huntress Marak had hired to keep Frida safe. Together, she and Daymian were able to treat Frida's injuries aboard the ship, but while she was out, Daymian realized surrendering himself to Sila was the only way to free his people. Frida awoke shortly after, and though she protested him leaving, Daymian flew away, leaving Blizzard to care for the sister he had loved his entire life.

Daymian touched down in Auravalle's central square, using all he had learned to fend off the Polari army and free the citizens who had been chained. After getting them to safety, he demanded a meeting with Sila who, eager to finally meet the Drekloga face to face, approved. Together, they determined Auravalle would go free as long as Sila could take Daymian with her back to Polaris, or else she would reveal to the world Auravalle's existence. Without hesitation, Daymian agreed, knowing he would be leaving behind all that he knew to live with the enemy. Shortly after, the Polari army cleared out of the kingdom.

The Diplomatic Hostage

Upon returning to Polaris, Daymian was brought before the Polari Lord Zamoro, where Sila claimed him as his ultimate prize. And despite the deal he had made with Sila, Lord Zamoro had no interest in letting Auravalle go free, but Daymian was able to convince him to spare the kingdom, arguing that without his dragon abilities, the Auravallens were powerless. Daymian continued by offering his services as a Crystal Elemental in exchange for peace between Polaris and Auravalle. The lord agreed, allowing Daymian monitored free roam of the kingdom in order so as not to upset the dragon, though his wings were bound to prevent him from flying away.

For the next six months, Daymian worked on upgrading the Polari infrastructure and weapons by enhancing them with his Crystal powers. And though he tried making friends amongst the Polari, he soon learned they were a hardy race that emphasized physical strength and dominance over emotional bonds, and many of them treated him like a chained beast. Only Sila seemed willing to have more personal conversations with him. Her successful capture of the Drekloga had landed her a promotion amongst the highest elites of Polaris, and she used her status to get close to Daymian, though he knew whatever admiration she had for him was hiding something ulterior. Eventually though, he was able to convince her to reveal Lord Zamoro's ultimate plans for Polaris--that with the power of a dragon on their side, the kingdom would have the strength to demand a seat on the world stage, along with other nations like the Northern Empire and the Sur Kingdoms. Knowing this would lead to the destruction of the Distant North itself, Daymian gave himself a new resolution. He would no longer be contempt with simply keeping Polaris from attacking Auravalle, he would need to dismantle its entire power structure from within.
