Body shape: Tall and bulky

Ivysong is a large, black tom with a bulky build and long, thick fur. Most of his pelt is black, but his eartips, tail, and a small portion of his rump are brown, fading into the rest of his fur. A tuft of hair comes off the top of his head, accented with brown streaks. Three white dots in mismatched patterns accent the corners of each eye. His chin has a white spot as well as all of his remaining toes. Ivysong is missing his left foreleg, and he was born with heterochromatic eyes; one being green and the other being yellow. His green eye, the right one, has been slashed over and blinded, making it instead a milky blue color. He wears a clump of baby's breath at the base of his tail and two collard dove feathers behind his right ear.

Having dealt with disappointment and struggles his whole apprenticeship, Ivysong has learned to be easy-going, though he still holds a lot of ambition inside of him. He's given up on being a leader or deputy like he once wanted to, but he still strives to be the best warrior he can be. He is very sociable, and loves talking with others. He tells a lot of terrible dad jokes and puns, and maintains a rather bubbly and excitable exterior. He is rather dim and forgetful, which also makes him somewaht indecisive. He knows he isn't very smart, and he can get rather anxious about the situation he's in. He pushes through it by telling his terrible jokes and staying as happy as he can. He loathes himself, especially his disabilities, and blames himself for all the struggles he's had to deal with. He tries not to let others know, though, even Tanglebranch.

Family

CHARCOAL [ mother ]

Ivysong doesn't know Charcoal. He doesn't even remember her scent, and he never learned her name. He wonders why she abandoned him sometimes, but doesn't think too much of it.

SOOT [ brother ]

As they were tiny kittens when they were abandoned, Ivysong does not remember his siblings. He remembers their scents, but he never really knew Soot, who was not found beside his brother and sister.

UNNAMED [ sister ]

Since Ivysong and his siblings were small when they were kits, Ivysong only remembers his sister's scent. She died not long after they made it into the clan, but he does not think of her much.

DOVEPAW [ daughter ]

Ivysong is so proud of Dovepaw. He's been told she's much like him, and is happy to have her. He'd lose another eye or limb for her.

CEDARPAW [ son ]

While Ivysong isn't as close to Cedarpaw as Dovepaw, he is still very proud of his son. He's so happy to have him, and would be willing to do anything for him.

MOUSEPAW [ adopted son ]

Ivysong loved Mousepaw as a real son. He was so precious to him and he's so happy Rosestar let him mentor him while they still had him. Ivysong misses him so much.

Friends

LEAFPELT [ best friend ]

Leafpelt is Ivysong's best friend! She helped him through so much, and he's happy they got to mentor each others' children.

MOORSIGHT [ good friend ]

Moorsight and Ivysong were good friends as kits, and Ivysong was close to one of Moorsight's mates before they passed. Though they don't talk so much anymore, Ivysong still thinks fondly of Moorsight.

RATRUNNER [ good friend ]

Ivysong did not know Ratrunner for very long, but had grown quite fond of them. He misses his old dad-joke buddy.

LIONCALL [ former mentor, good friend ]

As much as Lioncall and Ivysong disagreed in the later parts of Ivysong's apprenticeship, Ivysong is still glad to have him. He's almost like a father to him.

COTTONSPROUT [ former apprentice, friend ]

Cottonsprout is much like his mother, and Ivysong is happy he got to mentor him! He hopes Cottonsprout will still talk to him now that he's a warrior

ORCHIDSWAN [ friend ]

Orchidswan helped cheer Ivysong up when he'd first lost his leg. They do not speak so much now, but he's happy to be able to call her a friend.

RABBITSTRIKE [ friend ]

Ivysong thinks Rabbitstrike is so cool! She always has been and will continue to be his role model, even if she doesn't get along with Tanglebranch.

BRINDLESAGE [ friend? ]

Leafpelt doesn't get along with Ivysong, but that doesn't mean Ivysong can't like her. He wants to get closer to her!

Lovers

TANGLEBRANCH [ mate ]

Tanglebranch was always there for Ivysong. She was his childhood best friend and will continue to be his favorite cat ever. He's so happy to have her, and would jump into danger to protect her if he had to. He loves her so much.

Kithood

Before the kit could see, his mother was stuck with him alone. She didn't want kits in the first place. She dropped the kit in some ivy and hoped that would be the end of it-- the kit and his two siblings would die, and she would be freed of the burden.

The first thing he remembers was being itchy. He was about a moon and a halfish at that point. He was in some sort of den-- what he later learned was the medicine den. "Why do I itch so much?" he complained. The cat there explained that he was found in some poison ivy. When asked his name, the kit couldn't remember. He just sort of shrugged.

Next thing the kit knew, he was being called Ivykit and was absolutely smothered in affection by the cats there. He didn't mind not knowing where he was from. He fit in well here at the valley-- and he liked everyone here.

He made three friends in his kithood: Tanglekit, Rabbitpaw, and Moorkit

Important Events

  • Charcoal abandoned Ivykit and his siblings in a patch of poison ivy. One kit disappeared from the pile, another died, and Ivykit was taken to safety.
  • Ivykit made friends with Tanglekit, Rabbitpaw, and Moorkit.

Apprenticeship

Ivykit was very excited the day he became Ivypaw. He was determined to prove himself to his new mentor, Lioncall. He was so, so excited!

Ivypaw began to learn. He wasn't fast and he didn't have as much stamina as the other apprentices, but Ivypaw made up for it in strength and determination.

During this time, Ivypaw formed a sort of.. infatuation with his friend Tanglepaw. He started to fall for her. No matter how much he denied it, Ivypaw couldn't fight the fact that he had a huge crush on his friend. He started to go night hunting in secret with her, praying not to get caught. They kept doing this, going out to hunt secretly at night. They met up around a specific tree over and over.

Ivypaw slowly realized his feelings toward his friend. So, when they were around ten moons, Ivypaw pulled Tanglepaw aside at sunrise. He confessed his feelings to her, absolutely terrified and hoping she felt the same. But he was rejected.. they stopped talking.

Lioncall must have noticed how bummed Ivypaw was. They went out together and had a meaningful conversation before Ivypaw noticed a rabbit. He went to catch it. When he was just about to pounce, his mentor screamed for him to move-- that there was a bobcat! Ivypaw ran for his life but the bobcat caught up. He tried to fight back but it easily tore his leg off. Lioncall managed to drag Ivypaw back to camp. He lived, but he was down a leg.

In the medicine den, he met Leafkit. She had wandered into there, becoming curious after his accident earlier that day. Ivypaw tried to be friendly, but he was still very shaken up. He was somewhere between stages of denial and acceptance until Tanglepaw visited him days later.

Tanglepaw and Ivypaw rekindled their friendship-- or whatever it was-- and became close once more. They were again inseparable, close friends and despite how much Ivypaw wanted it to be more, he pushed that urge aside. He was happy with what he had, he decided.

Ivypaw went back to training with Lioncall. He was ecstatic to get back to training and prove what he could do and become! But things were… different. Lioncall treated him like he’d just become an apprentice-- not an almost warrior-aged apprentice. Ivypaw understood, but that didn’t stop him from being upset. How was he supposed to become a warrior if Lioncall was going to keep babying him like this!?

Tanglepaw and Leafkit-- now Leafpaw-- consoled him as much as they could. He was thankful for that, but he was still a bit upset. When Tanglepaw’s warrior ceremony came, he pushed that aside. He tried to be happy for his friend, who gained the name Tanglebranch. He cheered for her as loudly as he could.

With his best friend now a warrior, Ivypaw felt lonely again. Now that Tanglebrach wasn’t with him in the apprentice den anymore, and with Lioncall babying him, Ivypaw lost motivation to keep working. He did his normal routine walking around still, but all of the energy to keep going was gone.

Ivypaw got into a fight with Lioncall over the babying one morning. He ran back to the apprentice den and ended up talking to Leafpaw, who started doing battle training with him. Lioncall finally gave in and did battle training with Ivypaw-- who practiced with Leafpaw.

He was doing worlds better quickly. He compensated for his missing leg with amazing speed and excelled at what he was doing!

One evening, he and Tanglebranch raced back to their old tree together. She caught a dove and gave him a feather, which he decided to keep tucked behind his ear. She confessed her feelings to him and Ivypaw was so full of emotion he just started crying. They became “an item” and spent the night together.

The next day, Ivypaw woke up bright and early. Rosestar called a clan meeting and Ivypaw was given his warrior name. Ivypaw is now known as Ivysong.

Important Events

  • Ivypaw was apprenticed to Lioncall.
  • Ivypaw realized he had feelings for Tanglepaw, but was rejected by her.
  • While hunting with Lioncall, Ivypaw was attacked by a bobcat and lost his leg.
  • Due to his injury, Ivypaw missed his rankup. Lioncall began babying him, not teaching him the fighting techniques he needed to rank up.
  • Leafpaw and Ivypaw started to secretly train together in an attempt to help Ivypaw rank up sooner. Lioncall eventually returned to training as normal.
  • Ivypaw and Tanglebranch admitted to having mutual feelings for each other
  • Moons late, Ivypaw finally became a warrior, his new name becoming Ivysong.

Warriorhood

Warrior life proved to be rather boring. Ivysong spent most of his days either hunting or just hanging out in the shade with Tanglebranch. He’d decided he wanted to be her mate, but he had no idea where to even start with that.

One day, he decided he was going to do it. He convinced Tanglebranch to come to their tree, where he was going to ask her. They instead came across a dying she-cat and her last remaining kit. They called the three-legged kit Mousekit and took him in, basically adopting him as their own.

Ivysong showered Mousekit in love and gifts to the point where Rosestar had to tell him to stop. It was no surprise when she made the three-legged tom his apprentice. Tanglebranch and Ivysong became mates, Mousepaw binding them together as their adopted son. They were happy, life was good.

The Valley flooded one spring, and many cats died or were injured. The three did their best to help rebuild camp after the flooding stopped, and soon, life had returned to normal. Until Mousepaw disappeared and never returned.

Shortly after Mousepaw disappeared, a group of rogues had attacked, giving Ivysong and Tanglebranch scars on their shoulders. They presumed, based on what a rogue they fought had said about Ivysong’s missing leg, that this group had viciously killed their son. The two reacted to the grief differently. Ivysong hid away in the medicine den during the larger battle with the rogues at their camp, while Tanglebranch fought out of pure anger.

The rogues were defeated, but Tanglebranch and Ivysong were now without their son. Ivysong tried not to let it affect him much, and carried on with his cheerful attitude. Leafpelt became pregnant, having four kits with her mate, Timberfoot. As Leafpelt’s kits got older, Tanglebranch and Ivysong decided they wanted to have kits as well. Around the same time Leafpelt’s kits became apprentices, Tanglebranch became pregnant. Together, they had Dovekit and Cedarkit.

Ivysong was given Cottonpaw, one of Leafpelt’s sons, as a new apprentice. Cottonpaw’s apprenticeship was mostly uneventful, and he grew into a strong warrior. He earned his warrior name, Cottonsprout, around the same time Leafpelt was given Dovepaw as an apprentice.

A family of badgers posed a threat to the valley, and Ivysong stupidly volunteered to help drive them out. During the patrols to remove the badgers, Ivysong had shoved his face into a den, where a badger clawed over his eye and blinded it. He carried on and fulfilled his duty despite it, but the nightmares he already often had from being attacked by the bobcat were not accompanied by nightmares of the badgers.

Important Events

  • Ivysong and Tanglebranch found and adopted a kit they named Mousekit.
  • Eventually, Ivysong asked Tanglebranch to become his mate. She gladly accepted.
  • Mousepaw was apprenticed to Ivysong. He never finished his apprenticeship, though, presumably being killed by rogues
  • After a while of hoping to be real parents, Ivysong and Tanglebranch had two kits; Dovekit and Cedarkit.
  • Cottonpaw, Leafpelt's son, was apprenticed to Ivysong. He grew up to be a strong warrior named Cottonsprout.

Middle age

Fun fact: Ivysong is incredibly clumsy due to his injuries, but is overall unbothered by it
Fun fact: Because of the trauma from losing his leg, Ivysong often has nightmares. He does not let it effect him, though
Fun fact: Being rather useless without a foreleg and an eye, Ivysong does not have to do so many warrior duties. He spends much of his time cloudgazing instead.
