Centuries ago, a human was visited by a phoenix. Recognizing the human’s heroic deeds performed for their people, the phoenix granted its blessing. The blessing of the eternal flame. Molten hot blood coursing through their veins, the human gained the ability to use and manipulate fire - one of the most powerful and unrestricted forces known to man.

Generations of these phoenix-blooded humans built a society in the city of Qurah. While not technically a monarchy, the blessed ones were treated like royalty, and had a palace to match their status. The status of Fire Sage. Every time a new Sage takes up the mantle, a torch is lit along the palace walls, with a flame that would never flicker out.

Nadia is the next Fire Sage, to take the position after her father. And she hates it.

Treated like a princess, being seen for nothing but her status, she longs for nothing more than to be treated like a normal person. She longs to see what is beyond the city walls.
