" The faceless portrait " 

“ Painting by an unknown artist from somewhere around Victorian era. The painting portrays a young man, possibly in his thirties dressed fittingly to the time era which the painting is assumed to originate from. Unlike a typical portrait however for some unknown reason the models face has been left unfinished, some experts analyzing the piece say that the face might have also been covered purposefully as an afterthought but for what reason? That they couldn’t say..”

X spawned into existence as a sketch work from the very same portrait, that was actually originally based on the artists lover who was their muse and light of their life at the time. Sadly their partner passed away some time after and the piece was never finished and plagued by grief and sadness the artist couldn’t even bear to look at the painting, the mere thought brought them so much agony yet they didn’t have the heart to destroy the painting either. Instead the artist tossed it aside and there it remained, collecting dust and unfinished. 

Yet still, strong memories and emotions lingered and X didn’t turn into a sketch work until the artist passed away and so the art piece was finally completely forgotten as it never was seen by anyone but the two people who shared a special bond over it. As X came to existence and gained consciousness he was left alone into a dusty atelier for several years, where he remained trying to piece together bits and pieces about himself and what or who he was relying heavily his ability to hear and feel since his facial features were never finished. The atelier was eventually bought in an auction by a wealthy witch who took him under his wing, giving him an ability to see and speak by magical means and teaching him pretty much everything he knows.

Other

• The young man who X’s portrait was based on was actually a famous musician at the time and as the artist admired that in him and they strongly believed that he could do wonders and touch millions with his music which lead to X inheriting that musical skill. He prefers playing violin and piano.
  
  
• Can create illusions and tell stories by playing music, this can sometimes affect peoples minds and emotions too.
  
  
• The witch actually eventually converted the atelier into a proper living place for X to live in since that’s where he felt most comfortable in.
  
  
• In modern setting he works part time as orchestra musician and as an art dealer. He also owns a small art gallery.
  
  
• He might have the ability to talk telepathically but he usually prefers to stay silent at first when it comes to new people, partly because he wants to get to know them a bit better and partly because a sudden strangers voice inside your head can really freak some people out. He learned this in the hard way.
