Profile

LiLi exists in Victorian London (specifically she was in a Steampunk world with other mythical creatures, but meh). She was originally a Chinese immigrant with her family, who had hoped to have a better life in the Western world. Sadly, this was not to be the case. While her parents struggled to make ends meet, LiLi was largely left alone in the slums of London, in the little hovel they called home.

When she was barely five years old, LiLi took sick with Consumption (Or as we know it now, Tuberculosis). Unable to get medical care for their daughter, LiLi passed away. However, this would not be the end of LiLi - her spirit, not able to recognize that she had passed and was meant to move on into the afterlife, was left lost in the city of London.

Her spirit finally found its way to a toy shop, where it landed in a blonde-hair'd, blue-eyed doll. At first, her spirit was unable to move, speak, or interact with the world - she was trapped in that doll, able to see and hear, but unable to do anything but sit on a shelf. Weeks passed, and she was finally bought buy a wealthy woman to give as a gift to her daughter. But as they traveled through the city in the woman's carriage, LiLi found she was able to move her arm. She didn't know why, or how, but she knew something had changed during the carriage ride.

Although one would expect LiLi to hold a grudge against the rich family for taking her and stuff... But that really isn't the case for LiLi. Sure, she isn't a fond of the idea that now she is far from her home and she will never know what happened to her parents. But the reason being is because the daughter treats her very nicely like a friend even if the daughter isn't aware of her being sentient. Not to mention the daughter is also very careful with her too so that she wouldn't ruin one of her favorite dolls and also because LiLi is barely a 5 year old so she hardly understands the situation she is being placed in. All she knows is that her family is gone now and she's been taken to a different family and all of a sudden she can move as a doll. Actually it didn't take a while for the family to figure out that LiLi was a sentient being and they didn't think too much of it since they thought that was part of the features of the doll knowing that is was expensive and the daughter found it more fascinating.
