Eeb (Shadow Hejhogh)

Shadow Hejhogh is the current identity of the changeling Eeb. She is loud, obnoxious, childish… the list goes on and on. Unable to take the direst of situations as seriously as they deserve, the elf girl causes her party, as well as NPCs, a multitude of headaches. Her main stated goal is to become the most famous wizard to ever walk the face of the planet- which is difficult when she is not a wizard at all and is instead very clearly a bard. Claiming to use a flute given to her by her great-great grandfather as a wand, she is committed to this lie. This is not the only kind of lie Shadow tells. From her accomplishments, her feelings, and her life… its impossible to take a single thing she says at face value.

Which is exactly the point.

Shadow is not the first identity Eeb has created, and she does not believe it will be their last. Her old identity, Elizora, went farther than she could have ever predicted. This only caused her emotional distress and excess problems, which is why she avoids committing to indulging anything about herself in the slightest. Not that Elizora was her true self either. Really, who can say there is a “true” Eeb underneath it all? Not even the changeling herself has a clue.

The “high-elf wizard” Shadow Hejhogh, or otherwise known as Ezith, has a few different stories to her name. The main one she usually leads with in terms of her party and others she meets is that she grew up upper-middle class in the town of Knoxaron. Both of her parents were very loving, if a bit strict, but she lived an overall happy life. Shadow excelled in school and was at the top of her class: becoming the most promising wizard in the grade. She wishes to meet and exceed that bar set for her by pushing to be the best of the best. Even if that means lying about her accomplishments, she wants to keep that idea of her alive… even if she knows she’s a bit more incompetent than she’s letting on. Her reasons for adventuring are to earn acclaim and attention wherever she goes. Maybe get some cash while she’s at it, too!

But even that story is not set in stone. Eeb obviously knows that the fact that she’s really a bard is pretty obvious, so there’s a back-up plan. One that makes her seem a bit more sympathetic. In this story, she can’t remember where she came from, but only remembers the orphanage she grew up in. In this orphanage she met a terminally ill girl named Maria Robins. Her and this girl were incredibly close- almost like sisters. Maria was kind-hearted in everything she did, wanting nothing else other than to make the world a better place than she found it in. Unfortunately, Maria had an illness which made her incredibly weak and frail, so she was unable to leave the orphanage where the two lived. Shadow tried to make sure she still had an exciting life. Shadow was actually a nickname that Maria gave Ezith, for reasons even she can’t remember. One day, the building was raided by rogues who figured out that some of the adults caring for the children were deep into a conspiracy. Maria was murdered by accident, but in her dying moments she asked Ezith to fight for peace and for a better world. Ezith, who began calling herself Shadow from that point on, swore to her that she would do so. This is why she adventures, according to her.

But all of that is still a lie. Maria never existed. But neither does Shadow really, so is it really so different to lie about a dead child she uses in order to guilt trip those around her, lmao?
