Aspen is a lanky, short-haired, cream-colored she-cat with tan and brown tabby patches and a torn ear.

Aspen and her sister Rowan were born to a runnaway Skyclan warrior named Willowsong and a local rogue named Shade. They were raised as rogues until around 2 moons old when, their father, Shade disapeared. With the sudden lack of support, their mother was forced to seek out a safer place to raise her kits. This led her to take a kittypet as her mate and raise her kits in twolegplace.

Aspen and Rowan never fully adjusted and would spend the majority of their time outside playfighting, rather than embracing their new kittypet lifestyle. They were often told of grand stories about the mythical 5 clans where huge groups of "warrior" cats hunt and live in the wild. Soon their mother gave birth to one healthy kit named Sky with her new kittypet mate, Mystery. After his birth Aspen became very attached to her younger half brother, becoming somewhat of a second maternal figure to him.
