She fills her scabbard up with water. When she draws her sword, she freezes it and pulls it out, and then uses the rest of her magic to sharpen it on the spot. From the snapped edge onward, it's made of ice. There's just a bit of blade left near the hilt.

When an enemy is swinging down on her, and she sidesteps while faking a parry. The enemy thinks she's gonna block. But before the blades clash, the ice on the blade melts. He swings straight through, and his momentum makes him lose balance, so she can side step closer and stab the enemy in the neck with the shattered blade.

Another brutal move is that she stabs an enemy with the broken sword and uses their blood as ice to make the rest of the blade come out of their back. And when she pulls it out, it becomes a blood ice sword.

The ice will just follow the shape of the hole it's pulling out of, which is technically the shape of her blade, since it's what she stabbed in there. Meaning the blood sword can be straight. When she stabs the enemy with the broken sword, she can freeze their blood then shape it to fit the scimitar blade.
