Aiko, true to her name, received a lot of affection from her family as an only child. The fellow villagers were also very fond of her as she was polite, well-mannered, and always looking to help out with miscellaneous tasks. Growing up, her parents were often off travelling making her grandmother was her main influence. Midori taught her to not be judgemental but accepting instead and to see the reason within a person before coming to a conclusion. This lead to her believing that everyone has their unique characteristics and own worth. She is emphatic and forgiving as she tries to understand how one is feeling and sympathize with them. This however leads to her naivety and makes her trust opponents too easily, often causing her harm through emotional trickery. She can be easy to irritate, especially when she is tired, but does not hold grudges. She is a cheerful and optimistic girl with a constant smile and who is not hard to please. She enjoys the little delicacies of life. While she does not like being the center of the spotlight nor is very outspoken, she is not shy to talk to others and make conversation. She is not one to make jokes, but would be the first one to burst out laughing. Aiko is a scaredy cat who gets frightened easily. She gets intimidated easily and is not very confident in her own powers. She is scared and wary of the unknown. She is very emotional and takes people’s words personally, easily getting upset at little things. She will try not to show her dejection to later hide somewhere and cry. Aiko is hardworking and passionate about things that she love. However, she can be extremely lazy when unmotivated. She does not try hard when it comes to things that she has no interest in, and would end up procrastinating to do things that she likes first before it's inevitable to finish the task at hand.

Aiko’s mother and grandmother both originated from the Yuki clan, although neither of them possess the Ice Release kekkei genkai. After the civil war, Aiko’s mother and grandmother were the sole survivors of their family. Sensing the hostility directed towards them, the two women left their hometown to take refuge in the Land of Rivers where they would be safe from the persecution upon the discovery of their bloodline. With the remaining of their fortune, they bought a house and opened a seafood shop. Not long after, her mother met a merchant of the village which would later become her father. After Aiko turned three years old, her mother decided to travel alongside her father, leaving her in the care of her grandmother.
As a child, Aiko loved to play with other kids her age. She tried to join in anything they did, but got along better with girls than guys because she enjoyed chatting more than doing physical activities. She shared all her toys and frequently gave others small treats that she makes, and was generally well liked. One day at the age of seven, she encountered a near death experience with a wolf. Her ice release technique activated and saved her at the last minute. She impaled the wolf with ice daggers. That moment marked her loss of innocence. She was no longer the happy go lucky girl. She then went home to her grandmother who explained to her the history behind her clan and why she had no grandpa or cousins. From that day on, Aiko decided that she would go to the academy and become a ninja. She wanted to learn how to control her powers and protect herself, those that she cared about, and her beloved and peaceful village.

Aiko and Mayumi have known each other since their Academy days. They were acquaintances until they were put into the same team. They got along well as their personalities complimented each other’s. After training and interacting everyday, they became closer and were inseparable.
