One of the few Horned Orphans with no recollection of who and where they came from, he was adopted by the master of Filyon Dojo, who was on a journey back to the Gemmer's Canyon, along with his childhood friend/adopted brother Rui.
Being the energetic and protective child that he was, the master saw potential in him. He was then trained to be the next heir of the dojo, under the watchful eye of the master. Kumo and Rui used to train together but Rui eventually stopped due to his fear of other horneds and his disinterest. Kumo took all of the training in order to protect his brother, which in turn allowed Rui to do whatever he pleased. Kumo learned all kinds of things ranging from hand to hand combat to swordsmanship to even some basic archery.
Sadly, the master died a few years after due to his deteriorating health, making Kumo one of the youngest masters to inherit the Dojo. With the master giving his will to the brothers to live how they want, giving the dojo and the land around it, the two brothers redecorated and added new buildings/structures in order to enhance and help them maintain the place without doing major changes in the dojo itself, in respect to the only person who decided to cherish and take care of them.
I've been with Rui for as long as I can remember. Despite us being orphans, he is like a brother to me. He is a brillaint inventor and deserves all the praise he gets for them. Although, he does need to get out of his little hideyhole once in a while, I worry about his health, both physically and socially
