5'9", lean with a rather feminine physique. fair skin, brown eyes, and black hair with a streak of light brown. he has a limp from a particularly violent bully who has since been expelled from school. wears really quirky clothing and gets made fun of for it.

shoko is a strange mix of sensible and completely off the wall. he is a true art hoe that claims to find beauty and artistry in everything, and is constantly waxing poetic about the splendor of life in an extremely ironic way. he is intentionally extra about everything in order to make others laugh. he's very friendly and charitable, maybe even to the point of bleeding heart status. he's also in between popular and unpopular at school, so that he still gets bullied and teased but also has a humongous social circle.

shoko and his brother heisuke were born to two japanese immigrants. their mother died of cancer when they were both young, and their father grew depressed as a result. thus, they were rather neglected early in their childhood, but in recent years their father has improved with counseling. shoko himself has dealt with depression and anxiety, but as long as he takes his medicine he's pretty okay. he has a strong interest in all types of artistry, from glassblowing to sculpture to painting and beyond.
