Background
Kanapi grew up in the outskirts of Avigo with her father and younger brother. After her brother died tragically in a trash compactor accident at 7 while playing hide and seek, Kanapi’s father started getting angrier and more aggressive. Father and daughter grieved in their own ways, Kanapi becoming more secluded and pouring her whole heart and soul into her studies and her ballet classes. Her father on the other hand, lost his job at the county hospital and turned to substance abuse, and some drug dealing to pay the bills and make ends meet. He took his anger out on Kanapi every chance he got, and it wasn’t unheard of to hear faint yelling and objects being thrown from their apartment late at night.
Kanapi grew to blame herself for her brother’s death, and although she had become a model student and an excellent dancer, her growing anger issues became difficult to control. Kanapi would explode from time to time in a ball of rage, screaming back at her father and blowing off her teachers and friends when they got to be a little too close for comfort.
Kanapi’s father died of an overdose when she was 19, and since then she’s moved out of their apartment and pursued her career as a professional ballerina.
Traits and Mannerisms
Kanapi has pretty severe anger issues that she's working on, and likes to remain secluded in her personal life. She tends to feign confidence around others to make up for her lack of it.
She tends to walk on her tip-toes in her day-to-day life, and when anxious she'll clasp her hands behind her back or blink a lot.
Kanapi is incredibly ambitious and uses her ambition and drive to succeed as a distraction from herself, using her work and passions as a form of homemade therapy that doesn't necessarily work the way she tries to convince herself it does.
