My newest D&D character!

NAME: Asyri Goldlight
AGE: 21
RACE: Protector Aasimar
CLASS: Paladin (Oath unknown)

BACKGROUND: Knights of the Order - Order of the Unicorn

STORY:

Asyri first began to train as a Cleric at a church dedicated to Lurue, the Queen of the Unicorns. Asyri loved what the goddess represented; the beauty of magic and the natural world combined. They also had an order of knights and paladins called the Knights of the Unicorn, who would go about the land standing against evil. Asyri befriended them and spent a lot of time with them when they were at the church (while she should have been studying clerical texts), as she found their life and their stories to be very exciting. They even taught her sword and combat basics, and they were surprised by the strength of the young aasimar.

She hoped to become a great cleric like her mother, who would one day go on adventures and change the world for the better. But Asyri would never make it to her first level as a cleric.

She made a journey to her hometown before that first achievement, to visit friends and family after having been away so long. She hit the town one night with her old friends, and the group ended up at a tavern with far too many drinks. A drunk Asyri stumbled out of the tavern, meeting a woman with whom she struck up cconversation. She promised to make her even better to fight her enemies and convinced her to become a paladin that night. Asyri followed the lady to swear her paladin oath, leaving her drunk friends behind in the tavern.

Asyri woke in her bed at her parents home, to the sound of knocking at the door. She groggily got up and answered it, finding her friends on the doorstep with worried faces that turned to relief to see her. The memories from the night before came back to her, though it was blurred and foggy. Her friends explained that she had left to get some fresh air and had never come back in. Meanwhile, Asyri couldn't remember anything after having followed the mysterious woman, knowing only that she had gone with her to swear a Paladin's oath. But what was the oath?

Frightened and ashamed of her foolishness, Asyri bid farewell to her friends and parents (who still did not know what she had done) and returned to her church and packed her things. She no longer thought herself to be worthy of being a cleric, and she felt even more compelled to adventure through the land to meet evil head on. She convinced herself that whatever oath she had sworn had to have been a good one, for Asyri was, at her core, a good person and a kind soul.

When the Knights of the Unicorn returned, Asyri asked to become a squire and journey with them in the name of Lurue. They accepted their friend happily, knowing she would do well among them. They outfitted her with some basic armor and weapons, and took her with them on their next journey.

Not only that, but Asyri knew out there in the world is where she would find the answers about her oath- the god she had sworn it to, the conditions of it, and whatever else was expected of her. Whatever it was, she was determined to live up to its greatness. She had already abandoned the Cleric path; she couldn't become a Paladin Oathbreaker as well. She would return to the Church of Lurue as a great paladin, and her to parents as someone accomplished that they could be proud of.

One of the towns the Knights traveled through was a seaside village, where Asyri felt the first pull of her oath's patron. It encouraged her to board a ship she spotted in the port, bound for a foreign land. The squire bid farewell to her fellow Knights, who understood her need to follow her god's whispers and wished her well. So Asyri boarded the ship along with families, ship crews, and and strangers alike.

SESSION 1 : THE SHIPWRECK

They had been sailing for the good of two weeks, and Asyri was tired of it. The constant rocking of the waves, the scent of salt, the annoying creaking of the wooden ship... it was enough to drive anyone mad. The captain addressed the passengers one evening, letting them know that they were nearing the shore and that they should prepare for a storm that night. Asyri took a moment to finally meet the captain, and ask more about the world they were to land in. Afterwards, Asyri met some other strangers- the few others who seemed to be here alone. There was Dagna, the dwarf cleric. She was rough around the edges but Asyri was very interested in meeting the other fighter of faith. Then there was Luckie, a human? rogue who was snarky about the two church-nerds becoming fast friends. They were joined a moment later by Gundar, the human monk.

The storm swept in out of nowhere. In moments, the ship crew was running around urgently, adjusting sails and making preperations while they ushered frantic passengers below deck. Asyri and Luckie decended downstairs, while a wave washed Dagna and Gundar who had stayed behind off the deck and into the water.

Asyri tried to find a place among all the panicking people when she felt the ship drop into the trough of a wave, and her heart sunk with fear. Moments later a massive wave crashed over the ship, capsizing it completely. Below deck, people and items were tossed around as they crashed into the ceiling and water began to flood in. People were screaming as they crowded and climbed over each other in desperate panic to get out.

Asyri and Luckie spotted two shipmates heading the opposite direction, and opted to follow the two who knew the ship best. They were led to a broken win
