Profile

[Ensemble Stars!! fandom OC.]

This profile is mostly written as Enstars!verse, aka. the original year of the game, but using an AU where Anzu isn't the only producer.

The second, canon-compliant version is based on Enstars!! Music, found here - follows the year after the original game. It's largely the same besides the circumstances.

PERSONALITY

He's... not book-smart. Takuya does pretty badly in class, as he can't keep track of the concepts being tossed around - taking notes doesn't really help. He just doesn't grasp things like mathematics and science very well. Memorization is something he's good at, but he generally does poorly on exams anyway - test anxiety? Just being in school has been awful up until Yumenosaki. The Japanese school system doesn't work for him.

He's very lacking in self-esteem - which is why he picked up cosmetics, got into fashion, enjoyed design, wrote music, played instruments, etc. It was just to make himself look cooler/better, but the more he got into it, the more he enjoyed it.

On the plus side, Takuya is phenomenally creative and learns how to make things, get them to work, fix them, so on and so forth. This is what makes him stand way out as a producer - he's fantastic with most of the things a producer does with their idol groups.

He's not necessarily very imaginative in some ways, though - he doesn't believe in vampires, gods, or magic or even knows much about the myths behind this kind of thing. Takuya's more of a realist, focusing on the here and now, rather than daydreaming about mythical worlds or fictional characters.

Takuya is kind to a fault. He absolutely puts everyone else above himself - in middle school, he was generally the 'popular guy's best friend' type. As in, he generally 'gives' more than he 'gets'. He's very diplomatic and compromising, can see all points of view and is great at mediation.

Once he was able to make himself look cooler/hotter with a light amount of makeup, being a friend of the popular people was even easier. He still didn't feel like a good fit for the popular kids, though, so that makeup choice was limited to keep him 'in the crowd'. Moving to attend Yumenosaki has been so, so good for expanding his perception of gender - however, he's nowhere near answering the question, "Who am I?"

As a producer, he's very down-to-earth. Making sure his unit members have enough water, sleep, food, having them sit down for breaks, talking to them if they're upset, etc. Making food for the unit after they've done well - or just to meet a goal - goes over well. Takuya is absolutely the fussy team coach, and not every idol he works with enjoys the fussing. He can do 'tough love' if really necessary, though.

Bringing favorite snacks all the time! Stay hydrated! It's important to eat! "Yes, you have to eat, even if just a little." Let's see how much protein powder can be shoved into a brownie before it becomes too nasty to eat. Every little bit helps! (Rei got a guava-tomato smoothie with his iron supplements one time - apparently vitamin C helps with absorption, so why not put twice the vitamin C in with the tomato juice?)

TRIVIA

  • Hair extensions of many colors, eye makeup, contacts, hair accessories, too. Takuya tends to dress up in support of his units - think of Asuka Ninomiya, from Cinderella Girls.
  • Not a big fan of conflict. Struggles a lot when it comes up.
  • He is not at all good at schoolwork. Very slow on math and science subjects, but he does enjoy biology (despite not being great at the advanced concepts).
  • Conversely, his creativity is exceptional in music and art. He's able to make and design unit outfits easily for almost anything (but not Shu-level skill with actively sewing them.)
  • Really isn't much for fantastical or philosophical concepts. He'd much rather teach you how to do something practical. (Don't give me that magic nonsense, Sakasaki-san.)
  • He can cook! Makes food with love, but it's not usually amazing food on its own. It gets the job done and that's enough.

HISTORY (ENST! VERSE)

His parents are, and have always been, super busy. They barely have time for him... so he used a lot of methods to try and stand out, make them be there, but, well... it didn't work out.

In the end, nothing worked. He was just given a 'sure, go ahead to an idol school'. It was boring and not at all what he expected. He didn't do well in class, no one cared about him, he was just another 'nobody'. Not fun. Though, he watched Yumenosaki's silly "idol war" stuff from afar here, saw just how wild everything was, and brought it up to his parents that he wanted to go. He's lived more-or-less on his own his whole life, so they were just flippant enough to rent him a tiny apartment to take care of on his own, and so...

But then, by an apparent clerical error, he was entered into a 'producer' course upon transfer. This didn't exactly exist when Takuya watched Yumenosaki's nonsense from the other school - but the other girl in the same exact boat was even more confused. Girls weren't even in the idol course, right? Takuya felt so bad for her. The clerical error was never fixed, either.

Anzu doesn't seem to care anymore, but... Takuya had come to Yumenosaki to become an idol, not a producer. He's disappointed - almost gloomy. He got mistaken as a girl on the paperwork with the error. (Was that why?) Thus, there was a girls' uniform for him, and when asked if he wanted another uniform he could wait for one, but he was like. "No, that's alright, I'll just wear the girls' uniforms for now." He doesn't care, he's bummed enough about not being in the idol course.

Things spiraled out of his and Anzu's control on their first actual days, so he never actually got a guys' uniform, nor did the clerical error get fixed. He's forgotten about it, for the most part.

... Though, now that he's transferred in and got mixed up as a producer, he's never felt so normal in his entire life. Whereas before, he was the weird one - these people are over-the-top wacky, and generally Takuya doesn't know what is going on at any given time. He wanted to be an idol, but... being a producer is okay. People like him for who he is, not for what he can do for anyone else. It's pretty nice.

NOTES

(I'm not sure why Takuya's character ID number here is so extremely cursed (6396666) but, well.)

(In this original Enstars!verse, as you can see below, I unironically ship Chiaki/Takuya a hell of a lot, oc/canon is great.)

(Sometimes I include additional silliness like "what if Takuya is actually Rei and Ritsu's cousin?" but that generally doesn't get added unless it's fun for the plot. Unless noted otherwise, the similarity is always coincidental, something like Koga and Izumi.)
