Soot was born and raised right on the northwestern edge of Firefly Valley, in the city of Pine Ridge. As a child, Soot was quite sickly, having to be rushed back and forth from doctor to doctor to make sure his immune system was running and functioning properly. Constant allergies and common colds tended to take him right out of commission regularly, leaving him holed up in bed rather than playing outside with all of his friends. He was a weaker kid, always being picked on by the school bullies and being thrown around during gym class, much to his chagrin. Middle school, as normal was the worst of it, but Soot tried his best to remain positive and forgiving, not to those around him, but especially to himself. He studied hard though and kept his nose in his textbooks, studying hard so that one day he could make a name for himself and get back at the people who thought he would never make it. Even through the summer months before he started high school, he wanted nothing more than to prepare for the next year's academic challenges, however, he experienced a positive change in his health during that time period, which shifted his focus on becoming someone stronger and more brave to withstand the constant jeers and snide remarks from his bullies.

He began taking self-defense courses, honing his skills and building muscle as he'd never been able to prior, and by the time Soot entered his first year of high school, barely anyone could recognize him. His tall and muscular stature intimidated most of those who teased him throughout middle school. Still, Soot had some bullies who wouldn't let up, but it didn't take much to have them running for the hills with their tails between their legs. He continued to stand his ground throughout high school, standing up for others and making sure those with smaller voices were heard. It gave him a newfound sense of purpose and drive to become an even more strong and confident individual, and he only hoped to inspire those around him to do the same. Even after high school, he continued to be a beacon of safety and support for those around him, especially his friends; and though he soon decided to move to Kanamaca, he still continues to check in on those dear to him to make sure no one of trying to take advantage of them.
