Oaksnow and Heatherwish were happy, even if late to having kits. Houndkit, Wolfkit, and Coyotekit were their parents' pride and joy. It was a simple upbringing but one full of bliss. Oaksnow had a litter before these ones, Vultureclaw and Slugleaf, who were happy to share the world with their new younger half-siblings.
Houndpaw, Wolfpaw, and Coyotepaw were made apprentices and life was incredible. It was here that Houndpaw also met Bristlepaw. The two became instant friends early in their apprenticeship.
Wolfpaw would lose his life in a battle with a badger. This meant Houndpaw had to become a warrior without their brother. Houndleap and Coyotehowl at least had the honor of seeing their brother earn his warrior name of Wolfstride as he joined StarClan. Houndleap and Bristlepelt stayed good friends even through their warriorhood.
When you're this old, so much of time feels distant. Feels like it passed by in a hurry. Coyotehowl, Vultureclaw, Slugleaf, they all would go along with life. Oaksnow and Heatherwish would retire and pass in their old age. Slugleaf would do the same and Vultureclaw would pass in a battle with rouges. Coyotehowl would pass during the green-cough epidemic. Sadly, even Bristlepelt would pass due to the warrior life they all had to dangerously lead.
But it's okay. Houndleap has always maintained a smile in the face of struggles and now has retired to happily pass along their moons of knowledge to others. Time goes so fast but it's better to smile and retell everything you've lived than let it keep you down.
Living as many moons as Houndleap has, witnessing these last several moons has been hard. So many young cats that didn't need to go. Clawmoon, Mudlark, Bramblesong- it breaks their heart to see the struggles of the clan. They've done their best to maintain a grin and a warm heart for any who need it. If one thing is certain, having the capacity to bear the burdens of others is never a bad thing and they've happily taken that on whenever possible.

- Houndleap's old friend, Bristlepelt, actually was their platonic mate! The two were platonic partners- Houndleap's idea, of course- and even to this day, they call Bristlepelt their mate even if they've been apart due to death for many a moon now.

"I like Skyfang! Some cats don't- er, maybe a lotta cats don't- but I think she is very kind to me. She only hits me once in a while when I sing too loud! Either way, Skyfang's broken relationship with Coldfoot makes me so sad. She spends a lot of time talking about him and I'm happy to listen if it makes her feel better."
