Joll was born in a circus. He lived there for his whole adolescence. When his mother was accidentally killed by her trainer, he broke free of his restraints and killed half of the humans during his escape. He hates and distrusts most beings to this day.

He named is fish Bart. Bart sometimes hangs out in his own pond, but often likes to tag along with Joll. Bart doesn't dry out and has a separate pair of tiny lungs so he can stay out of the water for almost half a day.
