In their youth, Revan was a child slave on an Outer Rim planet. Despite being a child, they inspired a slave revolt, resulting in the deaths of many slavers. The revolt was quelled, and Revan was set to be executed for their role in the revolt, however, before the execution could come to pass, they were rescued by Jedi Master Arren Kae, who recognised their powerful potential in the Force.

Initially, Revan was placed as Master Kae's Padawan - however, Kae was exiled from the Order under mysterious circumstances. As a result, Revan was bounced between multiple Masters, and amassed a great deal of knowledge from multiple sources. This, along with their close friendship with fellow Padawan, Alek, resulted in Revan having a unique attitude for a Jedi - believing in the power of following their passions and forming attachments. This attitude was discouraged by their Jedi Masters, but it was impossible for them to stamp it out entirely.

When the Mandalorian Wars began, Revan, now a Jedi Knight, petitioned the Council to assist the Republic in defending the Outer Rim territories, but their attempts were continuously shot down. Growing frustrated with the Jedi's inaction, Revan, Alek, and a collection of other Jedi who were sympathetic to Revan's cause left to investigate without the Council's blessing. This group referred to themselves as the Revanchists.

Upon discovering the Massacre of the Cathar homeworld, the Revanchists fully joined the Republic's war effort, dedicating themselves to stopping the Mandalorians. Revan became renown for their strategic brilliance, quickly climbing the ranks in the Republic military and gaining the title of Supreme Commander, controlling a great portion of the Republic army.

Revan ordered the commission of the Mass Shadow Generator, a weapon of mass-destruction designed to put an end to the Mandalorian Wars once and for all. The Mass Shadow Generator was activated on Malachor V and, as intended, the Mandalorian Wars came to a close.

Unable to let the Mandalorians go, Revan and their army chased them into the Unknown Regions. In the Unknown Regions, Revan became aware of a greater threat that stood against the Republic, and took up the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith, turning their blade against the Republic with the goal to either strengthen the Republic by standing as its enemy, or to conquer the Republic and unify it themself.

The Jedi Civil War raged for two years, until a Jedi striketeam infiltrated Revan's ship and, using them as a distraction, Alek - now calling himself Malak - betrayed Revan, firing against their ship, aiming to kill them. Revan was saved by the sole surviving member of the Jedi striketeam, Bastila Shan. Bastila accidentally formed a Force Bond with Revan during the ordeal, and brought them to the Jedi Council.

The Council wiped Revan's mind, implanting false memories as a smuggler seeking redemption, and entrusting Bastila with the duty to draw information that could help them fight back against the Sith out, exploiting their Bond.

Revan defeated the Sith that they had previously lead, killed their traitorous childhood friend, and regained their memories. Now, they have vanished into Wild Space. No one knows where Revan walks now.
