Sunkatesh carries with her an opportunistic and headstrong attitude. She's quick-thinking and reactive, and despite hardship tries to see the best in her situation. Growing up in the desert, Sunkatesh takes pride in her craftiness and survival skills, and values hard work. She enjoys helping others through action, kind words, or just a smile. Like her heritage suggests, the dragonet is prideful and can be stubborn at times, especially when it comes to asking for help herself.
Above all else, Sunkatesh has always loved adventure and exploration. This calling has been an exciting and dangerous one, clambering over boulders and chasing deadly snakes. Her rowdiness had been excused by her youth, but many of her passions were not accepted within the home. Raised to become a temple keeper for her clan, a dragon who is as stone-faced and pure as the temple itself, Sunkatesh now sometimes struggles with intense or negative emotions.

Skills & Abilities
- Fire Breath. Sunkatesh is capable of breathing short streams of fire. She uses it for lighting campfires and party tricks, or defensively in combat. It's lacking in range and duration.
- Scorpion Tail. Ending Sunkatesh's tail is a venomous barb with a hooked stinger. It contains a toxin that causes extreme muscle pain and paralysis to the affected area, even death if given a heavy enough dosage. Sunkatesh only uses it as a last-resort defensive measure. She is immune to the venom.
- Martial Arts. The dragon fights with her claws. Her strong legs deliver powerful kicks and she has the agility and quick-thinking to deal with opponents big and small.
- Weapons. Aside from her own body, Sunkatesh does know how to use a few weapons. She's most comfortable with her quarterstaff, but will also fight with daggers or short swords. She's average with a bow and arrow.
- Spellcasting. Sunkatesh has an acolyte background. Her family was dedicated to maintaining the temple of their diety Solbaset, the great serpent of the sun, and the rest of Sunkatesh's family are powerful mages. Sunkatesh has picked up some of the spells - firecasting, lightcasting, and healing spells - but doesn't practice them as often as she should and is pretty average at them.
Design
Sunkatesh begins her adventures as a bright-eyed teenager. A dangerous desert beast, armed with fangs, fire, venom, and youthful spirit. Though, at 15, she's only 4 feet tall and her combat and intimidation skills are not the best. The dragon is covered in tough, pointed scales from snout to tail that are warm to the touch. She has long, swift legs and a pair of angular wings that grant her equal speed and agility in the air. A long tail keeps her balanced and ends with a venomous barb - she keeps her tail curled up to prevent accidents. Running from forehead to tailtip is a sail, thin and flexible with a rough texture, that aids in temperature regulation.
The dragon has an angular face with large ears and two white horns that curve upwards slightly. She has smaller horns on her nose and on both cheekbones. Her mouth ends in a sharp beak and is full of sharp teeth. Sunkatesh's eyes are dark gray with orange irises. As Sunkatesh gets older, her horns grow longer, she gets some ear piercings to compliment the nicks, and she reaches her full height of ~8ft. In her 30s, Sunkatesh gains a long scar across her right eye, though it does not affect her sight.
Since the start of her adventures, Sunkatesh has always worn a green poncho. It gathers around her shoulders with extra fabric to make a hood and comes to a point at the front and back. She never goes anywhere without it. Sunkatesh wears a simple shirt underneath, usually white or beige in color. Her pants can really be any style that allows her to stay flexible when fighting or moving about, and she prefers them to be above the ankles. As she adventures, Sunkatesh has gained trinkets and jewelry to adorn herself, usually gold - necklaces, rings, earrings, anklets, etc. She doesn't cover herself in gold, but one or two pieces look nice. When preparing for a fight, Sunkatesh will often wrap her hands and feet in bandages for extra protection.
Design Notes
- Calico markings are specific, especially on the face
- Clothes are required! Don't draw her nude.
- Sunkatesh has a lean, athletic bodytype. Narrow shoulders and hips, tall legs, flat-chested.
- Please do not draw her feral or quadrupedal.
Palette
Inventory
- Backpack. Sunkatesh carries a leather backpack that holds most of her supplies. A bedroll, spare clothes, food, a waterskin, jewelry, tools, books, coin pouch, and keepsakes from her adventures.
- Solbaset Pendant. Hanging low from her neck from a thin leather cord is an orange gem with a winged serpent carved into it. The serpent is Solbaset - the sun diety that Sunkatesh and her clan praise. It's a comfort item for Sunkatesh.
- Fire Quarterstaff. Sunkatesh earned this early on in her adventures. It's a thin wooden pole nearly as tall as her and surprisingly dense. The wood bulges near the top and a fire gem is embedded into it. The staff is fireproof and capable of casting fire spells alongside dealing some dangerous thwack damage. She also uses it as a walking stick.
- Twin Daggers. Strapped to a belt or her backpack is a pair of steel daggers. The blade edges are scalloped and an orange gem is embedded into the gunmetal hilt. They have no enchantments.

Those foreign to the land would call Sunkatesh' home barren, blistering, and boring. But her clan has learned that there is life under every rock and shrub - one just needs to know where to look. Sunkatesh herself has learned to love the vast, sandy plains, and finds comfort in the light and warmth of the sun.
History
Sunkatesh hails from a vast desert on her home planet. Visitors would describe the land as barren, blistering, and boring - but Sunkatesh's clan has learned that there is life under every rock and shrub, nourished and guided by the light and warmth of the sun. Her clan believes in the diety Solbaset, a massive serpent that encircles the sun, breathing life into the world and representing strength, resilience, and confidence. Sunkatesh's mother is head of the clan's temple, a building devoted to the worship of Solbaset and the records of the clan's history. Alongside her brothers and sisters, the little dragonet was raised under strict talons to maintain the temple and uphold the teachings of the great sun-serpent. No other path was presented to her, despite her wishes for something different.
First Adventure
As a young dragon, Sunkatesh packed some sparse belongings and made the decision to follow her heart, knowing Solbaset would light her way. She was well-read on the surrounding lands and expected an easy hike to the plains clan to the east. On the open dunes, Sunkatesh was face to face with her dream - to travel past the horizon and embark on a great adventure - and her hopes are sky-high.
Trivia
- Sort of awkward around kids. Well-meaning, but she doesn't really know what to do with them.
- Willing to try any food or drink you give her, though she has a preference for vegetarian meals! She loves sour foods and enjoys sweet berry wines.
- Will do cool tricks with her staff and daggers if you ask nicely.
