Arae was born with the sole purpose of maintaining the most northerly shrine. The taur was in charge of cleaning the shrine, gathering offerings, and maintaining the grounds. As a holy shrine guardian he must keep his face covered in the company of others less he curse them severely and make them a target to the gods. Arae was not content with the company of just the shrine cats so when winter began to loom he targeted the last visitor of the season, a taur named Loveday, and exposed his face to the stranger. Forced to repent to a crime that truly wasn’t his own, Loveday stayed to work for the shrine. The two cohabitate peacefully for the time being, bit one never knows what will happen in the mountains.

The main setting is in the mountainous region far away from anywhere highly populated. In the remote area the most northerly shrine of a wide spread religion is located. In a world where gods are very real and defying them results in immediate punishment being in touch with the nearest shrine is a good idea.
